I’m 28 years old and I make $66k a year. I have about 50k in student loans I’m paying back and monthly manageable amounts and I also have a car payment loan I’m paying back through my credit union where I financed my current car which is about 17k. I currently live in an apartment, but I’m thinking it would be more valuable to look into a Townhouse. Rather than spending money on an apartment every month where my rent may rise each year, having a mortgage going towards the townhouse could be a better and cheaper option I believe. And I could rent out the property if I ever were to move to another state. My question is, what process should I take to look into getting pre-approved mortgage loans (which I will probably finance through my current credit union) and is the townhouse approach better than continuing to rent? Also, will getting pre-approved hurt my credit score? (I currently have decent credit around 660).
Does getting pre approved for a mortgage loan hurt your credit score?
