Hello, Anythingnow 18, and welcome to the NerdWallet community.

Sorry to hear that your credit score went down. It’s normal for scores to move up or down slightly (a few points) and that can even happen in a single day. A sudden, large loss of points can be due to a late payment or to a big charge on a credit card. If you know of no possible reason for it, it is wise to investigate.

How large was the point change?

It sounds like you are concerned about possible identity theft. You can check to see what’s in your credit report by going to AnnualCreditReport.com. That will allow you to check your credit reports from the three major credit-reporting bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Those list every credit account in your name. You also may freeze your credit so that no one can open a new credit account in your name until the credit report or reports are un-frozen when you choose to apply.
