I’m trying to get my credit score through your site, I entered in all of my information, and I’m getting a message that says that my credit profile is already active with another NerdWallet account. I don’t know what account they’re talking about! What should I do?

If your credit information is already tied to a NerdWallet account, it cannot be tied to another one, too. What probably happened is that you signed up for a NerdWallet account using a different email address (either on web or on our mobile app), got your credit score, and then didn’t use that account for a while. Now, you’re trying to set up a new account with a new email address, but are getting blocked at the credit score step because the old account is still floating around.

To solve this, you can do one of two things:

  1. Log into your old account, the one that you’ve already attached the credit profile to, and keep using it. Something to keep in mind, though, is that you won’t be able to change the email address associated with this account.
  2. Close the old account (which will automatically deactivate the attached credit profile) and move forward with connecting your credit score to the new account. This is the better course of action if the email address you used to set up this account is the one you check more frequently.

Either way, you’ll need to log into the old account using your other email address and your old password. If you can’t remember the password, you can reset it here: https://www.nerdwallet.com/home/forgot-password.
