I just looked at my credit report on NerdWallet and there’s a company listed on it that I don’t recognize - it’s saying I have some kind of outstanding debt with them. How can I find out what this is?

NerdWallet does not directly manage the information that’s on your credit report, and NerdWallet employees are not able to see the contents of your credit report. So unfortunately we’re not able to take a look and tell you what that company might be. But you may be able to figure it out by doing a quick online search of the company name or abbreviation. This should uncover more information about the company, including its contact information, which you can use to find out more about the company.

If you find that the company is a debt collector, it would be a good idea to read through this article before you give them a call: https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/finance/unpaid-debt-collections/. Talking to debt collectors can be tricky, so creating a strategy before you make the call is the best course of action.
