A medical bill was sent to collections and I had Medicaid at the time of service. How would I get this taken off of my credit report? This hurt my credit substantially. Thanks!

Hi there!

Generally, medical bills (and most negative marks on your credit report) will fall off your credit report after 7 years.

However, you can try to contact the debt collector or original creditor and ask that they delete the account off your credit report. There’s no guarantee they’ll do it, but it’s worth a shot.

Here’s an article that might help: https://www.nerdwallet.com/blog/finance/negative-items-removed-credit-report-how/

Good luck!
