I had knee surgery on the 26th of October. On the 31st I received a letter stating it was not medically necessary. Now they’re stopping PT and I’m sure they will bill me for surgery. I was told by doctor office and PT office it was all 100% covered, otherwise I would not have had it done. What should I do?
I would reach out to your insurance company for a more specific reason for the denial other than medical necessity.
Did someone forget to get authorization? Did the provider not code correctly? etc…
I would then take this information back to the surgeon’s office for their assistance in getting this bill paid by appealing the denial. Time is of the essence!
