My son was ordered a TTE w/o doppler complete for code 93307. The hospital billed me for code 93306. The total charge was $3153 and the adjustment was $977. I've tried numerous times to get the hospital to rebill but they will not.

Is there anything else I can do?

I’ve paid $225 and tried to get them to lower the bill but they won’t. I’m still stuck with a $1950 balance. I wish I would have researched other imaging places first but didn’t know to do that. Any advice you can give would be helpful. I offered them $1200 and they won’t accept.

You need to talk to a patient advocate who is a billing specialist.  Go to apha.org and look to find a representative who handles medical billing; or call Trisha the owner of that site.

Hi,

I recommend writing a letter to the hospital asking for your bill to be corrected.  You can contact the billing office at the hospital to find out where your dispute letter should be sent. I recommend including the names and dates of the people you contacted at the hospital when you tried to resolve this error.  Additionally, if you have insurance you can also ask your insurance company for assistance with getting this bill corrected.

When attempting to negotiate a medical bill, it sometimes helps to include a pricing source for your medical procedure/test for your local area.  The FairHealth database has a list of prices for medical procedures based on zip codes and can be found here:  http://fairhealthconsumer.org/.

If you have any further questions, feel free to call me at 1-888-544-5562.

Good Luck!

I would definitely reach out to a medical bill advocate who can audit the medical records for correct coding, compliance and pricing.
You can find a medical bill advocate on this board or do an internet search. Most advocates work nationally and can help you out.
Best of luck!
