Kirk Kinder is the owner and founder of Picket Fence Financial, a fee-only financial planning firm. After serving as an officer in the Coast Guard and the Director of Member Services at the Motley Fool, Kirk worked at a fee-only firm for four years before venturing out on his own. Kirk has earned the Certified Financial Planner designation and has completed his Master's Degree in Personal Financial Planning.

Kirk has been quoted in several financial publications including the Wall Street Journal, Kiplingers, Investor’s Business Daily, Standard and Poor’s, and Bloomberg Wealth Manager to name a few. He has also been featured on the local ABC, NBC and Fox affiliates. Additionally, Kirk contributed a chapter to "Exchange Traded Funds: Conceptual and Practical Investment Approaches."

Even though financial careers tend to attract more conservative folks (meaning boring), Kirk does like adventure. He has run with the bulls in Pamplona, rode his bicycle across the U.S., competed in a half Ironman, and traveled all the continents, except Antarctica. When he isn't crunching numbers or partaking in a crazy undertaking, Kirk spends time with his wife and two daughters.
