Mike is a financial planner and partner with Financial Symmetry, Inc., in Raleigh, NC.  As an experienced financial planner, Mike enjoys helping people simplify their complicated financial life and create a road map to financial Independence. He provides unbiased and honest advice as a fiduciary. No conflicts of interest.

Mike left a successful career in the banking industry for financial planning as he realized his true passion is helping others.  He is firm believer to be successful in life you must do what you enjoy. 

He is a CFP® and also holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designee. Mike received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois and MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.  

In addition, he is an active member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), an organization of fee-only planners, co-host of the Financial Symmetry podcast and has been quoted in various industry publications.     

Originally from Minnesota, Mike has spent time living in the midwest and northeast before relocating to the Triangle area.  Prior to joining Financial Symmetry he worked in the banking industry for American Capital in New York and GE Capital in Chicago.  This valuable knowledge of the financial markets is instrumental in helping people succeed in meeting their own financial goals.   

Mike and his wife, Kerri, have four children (Kaitlyn, Alyssa, Lauren and Tyler) and a golden retriever named Cody.  They live in Cary and are actively involved in their community and local schools. 

In his free time Mike enjoys spending time with his family, helping coach his kids’ sports teams, Y Guide events, landscaping, staying active (golf, hockey, triathlons and GoRuck) and an committed member of his church.
