E.ON business energy tariffs and plans explained

There are E.ON Business Energy tariffs suitable for any-sized business, whether you’re a startup or household name.

For SMEs – defined by E.ON as those that spend less than £35,000, or use less than 100,000 kWh of electricity, or less than 293,000 kWh of gas per year – your E.ON Business Energy quote is available on fixed or variable rate tariffs.

Large businesses – those that spend more than £35,000, or use over 100,000 kWh of electricity, or over 293,000 kWh of gas per year – can normally negotiate a contract with nPower Business Solutions, a part of E.ON.

Fixed Business Electricity

This plan is available currently on a fixed contract for 1 to 5 years, allowing you to lock-in the same price for the entirety of the contract.

Fixed rate contracts are something to maybe consider if you want to pay the same each month, regardless of changes in energy prices.

100% Renewable Business

E.ON’s fixed- and variable-rate tariffs are powered by wind farms and renewable certified grids, meaning they can provide 100% renewable energy to their business customers.

Variable Business Electricity

Unlike fixed term contracts, the cost of variable rate tariffs can fluctuate in line with wholesale energy prices. This plan is a 30-day rolling contract that currently imposes zero exit fees if you switch to one of E.ON’s fixed tariffs, making it an option for businesses looking for short-term flexibility.

Business size categories

Like other providers, E.ON categorises your business based on several criteria.

SMEs are businesses that spend less than £35,000 on energy, or use less than 100,000 kWh of electricity or 293,000 kWh of gas per year.

If your business spends more than £35,000 on energy, or uses more than 100,000 kWh of electricity or 293,00 kWh of gas per year, then you’re seen as a large business by E.ON.
