With winter travel right around the corner, Alaska Airlines is warming up the bonus on the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card.

For a limited time, new cardholders can snag this bonus: Get 60,000 bonus miles, plus Alaska's Famous Companion Fare ($99 fare plus taxes and fees from $23) with this offer. To qualify, make $3,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of opening your account.

Previously, new cardholders earned 40,000 bonus miles (plus Alaska's Famous Companion Fare for $99 fare plus taxes and fees from $23).

Expanded rewards for EV owners

Earlier this year, Alaska overhauled its credit card — adding the ability to earn 2 miles per $1 spent on eligible gas, cable, streaming services and local transit.

Now, that bonus rewards category will expand to include electric vehicle charging stations. The card earns:

• 3 miles per $1 spent on eligible Alaska Airlines purchases.

• 2 miles per $1 spent on eligible gas (including EV charging), cable, streaming services and local transit.

• 1 mile per $1 spent on all other purchases.

The Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card's rich ongoing rewards and stellar sign-up bonus will go a long way toward helping you fund your vacation, whether you're planning a trek to see the northern lights in Alaska or are hoping to visit one of the airline's sunnier stops.

As of September 2023, NerdWallet values Alaska Airlines miles at 1.4 cents per mile, making this welcome offer worth around $840 — before you factor in the value of the companion ticket.

Alaska Airlines has a loyal fanbase, but a limited footprint of flight options for much of the U.S. In 2021, Alaska joined the Oneworld alliance, and flyers can redeem Alaska miles for flights on partners such as American Airlines, British Airways, Japan Airlines and more.

Still, many people will be better off using a general travel rewards credit card that offers more flexible options.
