Bank of America Customized Cash Expands Rewards Categories

Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card holders will have more opportunities to earn the card's highest rewards rate starting Aug. 22.
The card earns 3% cash back in one category of the cardholder’s choice, which now includes EV charging stations for the business and consumer versions of the Customized Cash; and cable, streaming, internet and phone plans for the consumer card only.
The following spending categories now earn 3% back:
Gas, including EV charging stations.
Online shopping, including cable, streaming, internet and phone plans. (Cable, streaming, internet and phone plans only earn 3% back with the consumer Customized Cash card.)
Dining.
Travel.
Drugstores and pharmacies.
Home improvement and furnishings.
Cardholders may change their 3% category once a month in the app or by logging in to their online account.
If you don't make a selection, the default 3% cash-back category will be set to gas and EV charging, according to the issuer. Your selected category will remain the same from month to month unless you change it.
The Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card also earns 2% at grocery stores and wholesale clubs. Cash back earnings have a quarterly cap of $2,500 in combined purchases from the 3% choice category and 2% category. All other purchases earn an unlimited 1% cash back.
Bank of America Preferred Rewards® members can earn 25% to 75% more cash back, up to a 5.25% rewards rate, depending on their membership tier. To become eligible for Preferred Rewards, you need an active Bank of America® checking account and a minimum three-month average balance of $20,000 across all Bank of America® deposit and Merrill investment accounts. Joining Preferred Rewards is one way to get the most out of the Customized Cash Card.
