Best Value City Furniture Black Friday Deals From 2013

Value City Furniture sells furniture and home décor for the living room, bedroom, dining room and more. Founded in 1948, the retail chain is family-owned and -operated.

Last year, Valley City Furniture released an eight-page Black Friday ad to celebrate the start of the holiday shopping season. The sale wasn’t just for Black Friday: For the first time, the store opened from 9 p.m. to midnight on Thanksgiving for those who wanted to do some early bargain hunting. Value City then reopened at 6 a.m. on Black Friday. Sales were available online as well.

Among Value City’s best 2013 discounts were price cuts on furniture for the living room and bedroom. Some of the notable featured products:

  • Ciera 2-Piece Leather Sectional and Cocktail Ottoman for $699 (save more than 20%)
  • Manhattan All-Wood Queen Bed, Dresser and Mirror for $799 (save more than 20%)
  • Magellan 4-Piece Power Reclining Sectional for $1,759 (save 20%)
  • Selection of room packages for $639 each (save 20%)
  • $100 off select chairs and recliners
  • Assorted throws starting at $9.99

Besides markdowns on specific products, there were other incentives as well. Beginning online at 9 p.m. the night before Thanksgiving, shoppers could score 20% off or 48-month special financing on purchases of $699 or more. From 9 p.m. to midnight on Thanksgiving, this same offer went into effect again. Plus, the first 50 people in the store received a free pillow. Then, on Black Friday, the first 50 people in the store walked away with a free throw blanket. From 6 to 9 a.m. Friday, shoppers could get 20% off or 48-month special financing on purchases of $699 or more. From 9 a.m. to closing, the same deal was offered, but the discount lowered to 10% off.

Value City Furniture also added convenience to its customers’ Black Friday experience with a system called Easy Pass. This allowed potential Black Friday shoppers to create an account and pre-shop online before the famed shopping day. Once Black Friday deals went into effect, these savvy shoppers could check out online or send a wish list to a nearby store and make the purchase in person.

For social-media-loving shoppers, Value City Furniture’s Pic Post Party promotion provided an extra opportunity to save: a contest to win a $100 gift card every hour from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Black Friday. Participants simply had to upload a picture commemorating the big day.
