The Best Black Friday Giveaways 2015

Black Friday is all about scoring the best deals and snagging some of the lowest prices of the year. But don’t forget the sweet icing on your Black Friday cake: store giveaways and freebies.

Since most of the top prizes are given out in the early hours of door-buster sales, the best way to make out like a champ is to plan ahead. Prioritize which giveaways are the most valuable to you. Want to pose with shirtless male models? More interested in a gift card? Either way, plot your route and head for the freebies that entice you most. Here are some you may want to put on your map:

Victoria’s Secret totes

Like in years past, Victoria’s Secret is giving away a tote bag with a $75 purchase. The giveaway applies all day on Black Friday while supplies last. The design of these Victoria’s Secret totes is always a well-kept secret until Black Friday arrives.

Cabela’s door-buster giveaways

The outdoor retailer probably won’t have to do much hunting to find happy shoppers in early morning lines the day after Thanksgiving. This year, Cabela’s will hand out $15,000 in prizes to the first 500 people in line at 5 a.m. Additionally, here are some gifts that will be given out as door busters:

  • Zeiss Terra ED 8×42 binoculars
  • $100 Cabela’s gift cards
  • Cabela’s Polar Cap 40-quart Equalizer cooler
  • Masterbuilt 30-inch window meat smoker ($349 value)

Old Navy sweepstakes

In 2013, this store entered the first 500 Black Friday bargain hunters into a chance to win its Overnight Millionaire sweepstakes. The number decreased to 100 last year, and this year, Old Navy is giving the first 50 shoppers a chance to win $1 million. Stores open at 4 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

Sports Authority store credit

Tired of standing in line? Sports Authority understood shoppers’ pain in 2014 and gave away chairs to the first 50 people in line at each store. This year, the store is continuing its practice of handing out $15 in Sports Authority bucks (which go toward any purchase in the store) to the first 80 people in line. So fill up on turkey early because the doors open at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Petco’s Grinch prizes

Petco is wishing puppies, kitties and all bargain hunters a “Merry Grinchmas” with Max-inspired antlers for dogs and Grinch hats for cats. These costumes come free with a purchase using a Pals Reward card on Black Friday, so there’s no need to wait in early morning lines for them.

Macy’s ‘Walk In & Win’

This big holiday favorite invites customers to play the Walk In & Win game on their smartphones starting on Thanksgiving. The game gives Macy’s customers a chance at $1 million in prizes and giveaways, including a trip to New York City and a home makeover. It might be wise to download the app before your Thanksgiving or Black Friday visit. Macy’s Walk In & Win lasts from Nov. 26 to 29; visit Macys.com to learn more.

Belk gift cards

On Thanksgiving, Belk will open at 6 p.m. and greet customers with more than just savings. Gift cards valued from $5 to $1,000 will go to the first 250 people in line.

Fred Meyer keeps customers warm and happy

If it’s less about the stuff and more about the sweets for you, start your Black Friday line at Fred Meyer. This retailer will open at 5 a.m. and give its customers just what they need to rev up for the Black Friday sales: free coffee and doughnuts!

For those online

The Amazon Appstore is giving away an app for download on all Android devices. The promotion starts on Thanksgiving and will have about $115 worth of free apps and games.

Score your own giveaways

By clipping coupons from ads and going for the buy-one-get-one and even buy-one-get-two deals, it will feel like you’re getting freebies.

Make a giveaway plan

Pick the stores that have the Black Friday giveaways you want most. Some are contest entries, others are a sure-fire bet for cash for in-store spending, and still others are keepsakes. With the Black Friday freebies being offered this year, chances are good that you’ll score something.
