My credit union already has more deposits than it can effectively loan to its membership. This creates a need for them to lower interest rates on my savings accounts since so much of their money is tied up in Treasuries at an abysmal rate of return. Thus, please, for my sake, just stick to your big banks and let them bleed you dry. Thanks!

  • Kristen Christian

I wish I lived in one of those states/municipalities, as I would join. I would join all of them if open account was available to all America. It is a great way to tell Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase, and all the other vampire banks to go backinto their graves.

  • Laura Edgar

Hey everyone. Don’t forget to check out NerdWallet’s credit union finder if you don’t see a credit union listed for your state. There are great credit unions everywhere.

We’re also hearing about new Bank Transfer Day promotions all the time, so please check back frequently for updates. Thanks!

  • Josephspina

Why can’t the banks give me my money in cash? I ask to close my accounts, and they say we do not have the cash right now. How can this be legal? I have to wait to get cash? What’s going on?

Get your money out of Suntrust and Bank of America!
