United Airlines flyers now have one more credit card to choose from with the launch this month of the United Quest℠ Card.

The card, issued by Chase, falls between the existing mass-market United℠ Explorer Card and the ultra-premium United Club℠ Infinite Card in terms of cost and benefits.

The United Quest℠ Card has a $250 annual fee, but it offers a generous sign-up bonus for a limited time, plus an array of travel credits and perks. The card can provide value for frequent United passengers, but the annual fee is pricey if you’re not loyal to the airline.

Sign-up bonus and ongoing rewards

For a limited time, new cardholders can earn up to 100,000 United miles:

  • Earn 80,000 miles if you spend $5,000 in the first three months.

  • Earn 20,000 more miles if you spend $10,000 in the first six months.

  • You can earn either or both of these bonuses.

(NOTE: This bonus offer has since expired.)

NerdWallet values United miles at 1.2 cents each. This is a baseline value, drawn from real-world data on hundreds of economy routes, not a maximized value. In other words, you should aim for award redemptions that offer 1.2 cents or more in value from your United miles.

You’ll also earn:

  • 3 miles per $1 spent on United purchases.

  • 2 miles per $1 spent on all other travel (including other airlines, hotels, car rentals and more), dining (including takeout and delivery) and select streaming services.

  • 1 mile per $1 on all other purchases.

Travel credits and other perks

The United Quest℠ Card offers several travel credits and mileage reimbursements that can help offset the $250 annual fee and stretch your miles further:

  • A $125 annual United purchase credit.

  • Up to $100 credit for TSA Precheck or Global Entry.

  • Get 5,000 miles back in your MileagePlus account up to two times per anniversary year when you take a United or United Express flight booked with your miles.

Additional travel benefits provide more ways to save money and time when you travel, and they add a touch of luxury to the experience.

  • You and a travel companion on the same reservation get two free checked bags each, which adds up to a savings of $80 in bag fees per person, per flight.

  • Priority boarding for you and any travelers on the same reservation.

  • Get 25% back on in-flight food, beverage or Wi-Fi purchases on United-operated flights. You’ll receive the discount in the form of a statement credit.

  • Earn up to 3,000 Premier qualifying points per year, which is nearly enough to attain Silver status.

  • Book a stay at one of the Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection properties and get extras like free Wi-Fi, daily breakfast for two, dining and spa credits, room upgrades and more (when available).

  • Get travel protections including coverage for lost or delayed luggage, reimbursement for trip delays, interruptions or cancellations, rental car collision coverage and travel accident insurance.
