Yes, it’s kind of silly. No, it doesn’t offer any additional benefits. And yet ... it’s strangely compelling.
We’re talking about the American Express® Gold Card’s rose gold version, which is now a permanent color option for the card. American Express’ own description explains it all: “It's a variation on the Gold Card. It has the same great features and benefits, with a stylish hue. Plus, it's metal.”
The last time this rose gold variant was available was in 2019 — but then, it was only by referral. This time around, new card applicants can apply on their own and select the color they want. If you already have the American Express® Gold Card, you may call and request to change out your card to the rose gold edition.

Whether you get the flashy rose gold version or not, the American Express Gold Card offers valuable benefits for foodies and frequent travelers alike. You’ll earn 4 Membership Rewards points per $1 spent at restaurants, 4 points at U.S. supermarkets (on up to $25,000 per year) and 3 points on flights booked directly with airlines or at amextravel.com. Membership Rewards points are flexible: They can be used to book travel directly, or transferred to a growing list of airline and hotel partners.
The card does carry a mid-range $325 annual fee, which is rare among travel credit cards. The annual fee can be somewhat offset by the monthly $10 in Uber Cash for U.S. rides or Uber Eats orders and $10 per month credit for specific delivery services including Grubhub, Goldbelly and a few restaurants (enrollment required). Both credits are limited to $120 each annually. You must add the card to your Uber account to begin earning the Uber Cash. Terms apply.
