If you value simplicity, a flat-rate cash-back card may be better

Don’t let its $0 annual fee fool you into thinking the Chase Freedom Flex℠ is weak on rewards. This surprisingly strong card combines the best of both worlds: fixed bonus categories that range as high as 5% cash back, on top of 5% cash-back bonus categories that change each quarter.
Even if tracking rotating bonus categories isn’t your thing, the Chase Freedom Flex℠ still packs plenty of punch when you use it for dining and drugstore purchases, where you’ll earn 3% cash back. Plus, use it to book travel directly through Chase and you’ll earn 5% cash back. Plus, earn 1% back on all other purchases.
New cardholders can earn a robust bonus worth up to $800: Earn a $200 Bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening. For more information, see NerdWallet’s full review of the Chase Freedom Flex℠.
