Navy Federal Revamps Online Credit Card Shopping Portal

Navy Federal Credit Union, the nation’s largest credit union, has overhauled its online shopping portal, renaming it Member Deals and increasing ways for credit card holders to earn pumped-up rewards by making purchases through the site.

Navy Federal’s portal makeover includes over 900 retailers with opportunities to earn as much as 15X points or 15% cash back, depending on the merchant.

In recent years, while cash-back shopping sites like Ebates and BeFrugal have proliferated, several other issuers have shuttered their bonus malls and shifted toward targeted one-time promotions.

“At the end of the day we are all about giving our members more and making it easier for them to earn rewards,” says Justin Zeidman, manager of credit card products for Navy Federal.

Rewards earned through Member Deals can be stacked with the existing earning structure of Navy Federal credit cards, even on the Navy Federal Credit Union® Platinum Credit Card, which doesn’t otherwise earn rewards on its own. The Member Deals site notes it could take up to eight weeks for earned rewards to post.

You must be a Navy Federal Credit Union member to apply for one of its credit cards; eligibility requirements can be found here, but membership generally is limited to former and current military members and their families as well as Department of Defense personnel.
