Marriott Bonvoy credit card comparison

Besides the varying welcome offers and annual fees, let’s take an in-depth look at the cards and their unique benefits.

Annual fees

There’s a range of annual fees for these cards.

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card has no annual fee, making it free to hold.

The standard Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card costs $95 per year, but provides a few extra perks in exchange for the annual fee, including a free night certificate.

The mid-tier Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card and Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card have a $250 annual fee, with a more valuable free night certificate if you spend $15,000 on the card per year. Terms apply.

At $650, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card is the most expensive option. However, you’ll receive a $300 credit each year as well as an 85,000-point free night certificate, effectively dropping your out-of-pocket costs.

Terms apply.

Spending toward elite status

All of these cards offer the ability to spend your way to higher Marriott elite status. Both the Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card provide complimentary Silver elite status, with the latter card also allowing a bump to Gold after spending $35,000 during a calendar year.

The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card, Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Business® American Express® Card offer automatic Gold elite status. Terms apply.

These five cards all include 15 Elite Night Credits per year toward the next level of elite status.

The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card, meanwhile, comes with complimentary Platinum elite status and 25 Elite Night Credits.

Earn Elite Night Credits

A newer benefit for this card, you have the ability to spend your way to a higher elite status by earning one Elite Night Credit for every $5,000 you spend, with no cap.

Bonus points on groceries, gas and dining

Although this benefit caps out at $6,000 per year, it’s nice to earn a few extra points on everyday purchases such as food, gas and groceries.

Benefits unique to the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful™ Card and Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card

Bonus points on restaurants and U.S. supermarkets

These cards earn more bonus points on restaurants and U.S. supermarkets than the more expensive Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card, so it might be more beneficial for people who want to earn Marriott points on non-travel purchases. The two mid-tier Marriott cards earn 4x points on restaurants and U.S. supermarkets (on up to $15,000 in combined purchases at restaurants and U.S. supermarkets per calendar year, then 2X points).

1K bonus points per stay

The Marriott Bonvoy Bevy™ American Express® Card earns 6 points per $1 and provides 1,000 bonus points on each paid stay. Keep in mind that NerdWallet values Marriott points at 0.8 cent each, so this benefit is only worth about $8 of Marriott points per stay.
