Frontier Airlines Still Doesn’t Have Wi-Fi

If you're looking for Wi-Fi on Frontier, you're out of luck. It's the lack of amenities that keep fares so low.

Frontier Airlines is a low-cost carrier flying to more than 100 destinations throughout the U.S., Canada, the Caribbean and Central America.

While it offers ultra-low fares, the airline is known for offering fewer amenities and charging for features that most airlines offer for free. Before booking a Frontier flight, many travelers may ask, “Does Frontier have Wi-Fi?”

Here’s everything you need to know about staying connected while flying Frontier.

Does Frontier Airlines have Wi-Fi?

No, Frontier in-flight Wi-Fi is not available on any of its planes.

As a budget airline, additional features like in-flight internet generally aren’t available. Not only are they expensive to install, but eliminating them can save money on fuel costs as well.

How much does Frontier Airlines Wi-Fi cost?

Wi-Fi is not available on Frontier Airlines, which means you will not have internet access on your flight, and you will not be charged for it.

If you want to watch a movie or TV show during your flight, you may be able to download one to your device before you head on your trip. Many streaming services support downloads for offline viewing. Reading a book, taking a nap or listening to a podcast that you've downloaded are also good ways to pass the time.

Is Frontier Wi-Fi included in the Works bundle?

As a low-cost carrier, Frontier Airlines charges extra for many of the features that other airlines include in the cost of their tickets — like carry-on bags, seat selection and the ability to change your ticket without fees.

When flying on Frontier Airlines, many passengers purchase the Perks or Works bundles rather than paying for amenities separately. Both upgrade bundles are available for a flat price when you're initially booking your flight.

Wi-Fi is not included in either bundle, as Frontier Airlines doesn't offer Wi-Fi.

While purchasing one of these bundles won't get you internet access, it will offer savings on some perks. The price varies by route and is based on a round-trip purchase.

If you purchase the Perks bundle, you’ll get a carry-on bag, checked bag, seat selection and priority boarding. Here’s what these amenities would each cost separately on a one-way trip from Atlanta to Nashville, Tennessee:

  • Carry-on bag — Starts at $54.

  • Checked bag — Starts at $49.

  • Seat selection — Starts at $11 per flight segment.

  • Priority boarding — Starts at $6.

When you buy the Works, you get everything in the Perks package plus the ability to change your flight or cancel it without paying a fee. If you were to pay for these separately, they would cost:

  • Cancellation fee — $99.

  • Change fee — Up to $99.

Travelers with Frontier Airlines elite status receive many of these perks for free. Elite 20K is the first level of Frontier Airlines' elite status, and it offers a carry-on bag, seat selection, priority boarding and waived fees at no extra charge. If you have elite status, it can be hard to justify the cost of buying the Works or Perks packages.

Wi-Fi on other airlines

While Frontier Airlines does not offer Wi-Fi, in-flight internet is available on airlines it competes with.

If having access to the internet during your flight is important to you, consider booking your flight on another airline.

Here’s how much you’ll pay per device to connect to in-flight Wi-Fi on other airlines:

  • American Airlines — Starts at $10.

  • Delta Air Lines — Free with a SkyMiles account.

  • JetBlue Airways — Free.

  • Southwest Airlines — $8, or free for A-List Preferred members and Business Select passengers.

  • United Airlines — Free for T-Mobile customers, $8 for MileagePlus members, and $10 for everyone else on U.S. domestic and short-haul international flights. Prices vary for longer international flights.

What services are available on Frontier Airlines Wi-Fi?

Because Frontier Airlines doesn't offer Wi-Fi, there are no Wi-Fi services available on Frontier, and it does not offer any in-flight entertainment options.

Many airlines offer in-flight movies, TV shows, music channels and more, free of charge. Additionally, some airlines allow passengers to pay extra for internet access, special programming and other services.

Frontier in-flight Wi-Fi recapped

As a low-cost carrier, Frontier Airlines does not offer Wi-Fi internet access or entertainment options to its passengers. Eliminating features that are expensive to install and maintain enables Frontier to keep fares low.

If you’re looking for in-flight Wi-Fi, consider booking with other airlines that offer it for free or at a reasonable cost.

Frequently asked questions

No, Frontier Airlines does not offer in-flight entertainment on its planes. If you want to watch movies or TV shows during your flight, download shows from your streaming service before you take off.

Frontier and other budget airlines charge for many features that are free on major carriers. However, you won’t pay extra for Wi-Fi on your Frontier flight because Frontier doesn't offer Wi-Fi.

Most airlines have removed seatback screens from their planes. This reduces weight and fuel consumption and prevents the technology from becoming outdated. Frontier doesn’t offer TVs on its planes; many customers bring their own devices to consume content.
