Devitt Bike Insurance
The origins of the present-day Devitt Insurance can be traced back to 1936, when the Devitt “DU” motorcycle scheme was founded to sell motorbike insurance through motorbike dealers. However, the company’s history extends back even further. Devitt and Moore was established in 1836 and became a major player in the shipping industry, starting to offer insurance in 1899 thanks to Howson Foulger Devitt. From 1936, the company focused on their insurance services, officially becoming Devitt Insurance Services in 1990. Although they continue to specialise in motorcycle insurance, Devitt also offer car, van, home, and business policies. They compare quotes from a panel of insurers including AXA, Aviva, Covea, Ageas, Zenith, and Liverpool Victoria to find customers a policy that is tailored to their needs.
Devitt Insurance offers third party only; third party, fire and theft; and comprehensive policies to riders with a range of bikes and specific needs. It can cater for a variety of bike brands, mopeds, scooters, classic bikes, and modified models, as well as young, new, and student riders. In general, Devitt starts with a basic level of insurance without any extra features, so customers don’t pay for any extras they don’t want. However, if riders do want some extra cover, they can add them onto their policy so they have the protection they need.
Some of the additional features on offer to policyholders include: legal expenses cover, personal accident cover, helmet and leathers cover, excess protection, and different levels of breakdown cover.
Devitt Insurance, which is now based in Romford, also offers discounted multi-bike policies that can cover up to four bikes on one policy. Services offered by this provider may change over time. Always check Ts&Cs.
