PayPal charges fees to process payments. The fees depend on which PayPal service your business uses. Common services include standard credit card payments, Checkout for online purchases and Zettle for in-person transactions.

Types of PayPal payment methods
There are three main ways to collect payment from customers via PayPal.
1. Standard online credit card and debit card PayPal payments
How it works: You add a PayPal button to your website. Customers are redirected to PayPal’s payments page to enter and submit payment information, which PayPal processes.
Cost: 2.99% plus 49 cents.
2. PayPal Checkout payments
How it works: Customers pay directly on your website without being redirected to PayPal's payments page. PayPal provides the payment gateway and processing.
Cost: 3.49% plus 49 cents.
3. PayPal Zettle card-present or QR code payments
How it works: You buy Zettle, which is PayPal's card reader device, to process in-person transactions.
Cost: 2.29% plus 9 cents.
