You'll need to reach out and inquire, but Radisson is generally pretty generous about status matches.

If you don't spend much time in Europe, you may not be familiar with Radisson hotels, so you might not know that the Radisson Rewards loyalty program can be pretty rewarding — especially if you have elite status.

Like other hotel chains, Radisson status matches elite members from competing programs to lure you to its properties.

This is good news for travelers wanting to explore the Radisson Rewards program. Here are seven things to know about Radisson’s status match, including the benefits to expect and how to complete the match.

1. Radisson matches from multiple programs

Radisson Rewards is generous when it comes to making status matches.

Although there isn’t a dedicated website to know which elite statuses qualify, there are reports of travelers with several statuses getting matched. This includes Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt and IHG.

To request a status match, email: [email protected] with your name, your competing elite status, proof of your status and your Radisson Rewards number.

2. You can use a credit card to get status

Radisson Rewards will status match from a variety of competing hotel programs. This is good because many hotel programs will give you elite status if you hold an eligible credit card.

Examples include The Platinum Card® from American Express , which provides Hilton Honors Gold status and Marriott Bonvoy Gold status. Both of these can be used to match to Radisson. Terms apply.

The same is true of the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card, which comes with complimentary Platinum elite status as long as you hold the card.

3. There are multiple Radisson Rewards programs

The Radisson Hotel Group split into two in 2021, forcing the creation of two rewards programs. This includes Radisson Rewards Americas and Radisson Rewards.

Even though they’re two separate programs, elite status between them is reciprocal. You’ll simply email customer service with proof of your status in either program to have it matched to the other.

4. Matching only goes to Gold

There are four levels of elite status in the Radisson Rewards Americas program: Club, Silver, Gold and Platinum.

While Radisson will happily status match you, the best you can get is Gold status. Platinum status must be earned.

This is unfortunate for those members with top-tier elite status with other hotel programs, such as World of Hyatt’s Globalist status, since matching to Gold status will mean a downgrade.

Note that you can choose to status match to either Radisson Rewards or Radisson Rewards Americas. If you choose to match to Radisson Rewards, you’ll be given VIP status rather than Gold status.

5. Elite members get a lot of benefits

Like other hotel programs, Radisson Rewards ensures loyalty by providing its elite members with benefits.

These start at the Silver level, which requires nine nights or six stays. You’ll receive complimentary room upgrades, early check-in, late checkout and other perks.

With Gold elite status, which you’ll be able to earn via status matching, the benefits are even better. Along with all of the Silver benefits, you’ll also receive an in-room amenity, a 15% discount on food and beverages and a room availability guarantee.

6. You can compare data points

There is no dedicated landing page for checking out Radisson status matches, making it tricky to determine if your status will qualify.

For those looking to match, there’s a website where those who’ve requested matches can post their results.

Status Matcher isn’t just for Radisson Rewards. The website will show users the results of status match requests from various hotel, airline and rental car companies.

Its detailed information includes the dates a match was requested, the statuses used for the request and how the match turned out. This can help guide you when you send in your information.

7. Radisson hotels can be booked with Citi points

So you’ve finally gotten your new Radisson Rewards status and are ready to complete your first stay. You can always use cash, but it’s also possible to redeem rewards for a stay — and if you have a card that earns Citi ThankYou points, it can be a great deal.

Choice Hotels purchased Radisson Rewards Americas in mid-2022 and is currently integrating the two programs.

As a result, it’s possible to convert Choice Privileges points over to Radisson Rewards Americas points at a 1:2 ratio. This means that one Choice point becomes two Radisson points.

However, if you also hold either the Citi Premier® Card or the Citi Prestige® Card, you can transfer over your Citi points to Choice at a further 1:2 ratio. When you complete your transfers, you’ll be converting one Citi point into four Radisson points. This essentially makes an award redemption 75% off.

Radisson status matches recapped

There are Radisson properties all over the world and two different rewards programs to boot.

Even if you’ve never stayed at a Radisson hotel before, becoming an elite member is possible before your visit. This is thanks to Radisson’s status matches, which generously allow guests to match over from competing hotel loyalty programs.
