Aw nerds! It looks like this offer has expired. Please visit NerdWallet’s Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card page for updated info.
As if there wasn’t enough to love about the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, Chase has brought a popular promotion back for another year: Just like in 2013 and 2014, you’ll earn 3X points per dollar spent at restaurants on the first Friday of every month with your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card in 2015.
The rules are pretty simple: Dine out on the first Friday of each month at any establishment coded as a restaurant, pay with your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, and earn three Ultimate Reward points per dollar spent instead of the usual two. Remember, this doesn’t just mean sit-down restaurants – fast food chains, takeout joints and Starbucks count, too.
This is a great opportunity to rack up extra points, so plan your date nights and family outings strategically this year in order to take full advantage of the promotion.
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card: Great for foodies and travelers alike
What triple points really means
Chase’s First Friday promotion is a great chance to earn extra points, but how much are you really getting for those points? It turns out, a whole lot.
Generally, points earned with the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card are worth $.01 apiece. But if you decide to use them to book a trip with Chase’s online tool, they’ll each be worth 25% more. So, if you dine out with your Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card on the first Friday of the month in 2015 choose to cash them in for travel using the Ultimate Rewards portal, you’re earning a whopping 3.75% on each dollar you spend. That’s a killer rewards rate, and you’ll really be pleased you took advantage of the promotion when it’s time to redeem.
But don’t forget, you also have the option to transfer your points to participating frequent traveler programs at a 1:1 ratio. No matter which travel booking option you choose, First Fridays will help you score big.
The bottom line: We prefer Preferred for dining out in 2015
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is always a great choice for frequent travelers, but it’s especially valuable in 2015 due to the opportunity to earn 3X points on dining on first Fridays. If you’ve been considering the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, now’s the time to go for it – after all, there’s no guarantee that the deal will come back around in 2016!
