Scotiabank Passport Visa Infinite +* Card Review 2026: Is It Worth It?

Nerdy Verdict
Best for:
Lounge regulars and cross-border spenders who put plenty of mileage on their passports.
Not ideal for:
Everyday rewards chasers, occasional travellers and anyone whose passport gathers dust.
Why we like it:
Six lounge visits make airport waits easier, no FX fees keep foreign purchases from costing an extra 2.5%, and Scene+ points are easy to use. It’s a solid travel card that doesn’t demand loyalty to one airline or a PhD in points optimization.
The Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite +* Card is built for international travel. Six annual airport lounge visits and no foreign transaction fees can justify the $150 fee for frequent travellers, while its everyday rewards are strongest at Scene+ grocery partners.
View details
Points on every $1 you spend at Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Foodland and participating Co-ops and more.
Points for every $1 you spend on other eligible grocery stores, dining purchases, entertainment purchases, and eligible daily transit options (including rideshares, buses, subways, taxis and more).
Point for every $1 spent on all other eligible everyday purchases.
A competitive travel card that earns up to 3x Scene+ points on everyday purchases, and comes with six complimentary airport lounge visits and no foreign transaction fees. While you can earn accelerated points (3x) on travel purchases, they must be made through the Scene+ Travel platform, which may feel limiting for some users. Best for: Frequent travellers who shop regularly at Scene+ partner grocery stores, spend big abroad and are looking for airport lounge access.

Scotiabank Passport® Visa Infinite +* Card full review
BACK TO TOPThe Passport earns its keep mainly through travel perks. It waives the foreign transaction fee most cards charge and includes six airport lounge visits a year. Its best earn rates are more selective: you’ll get 3 Scene+ points per $1 at participating Scene+ grocery stores, while the 4x rate applies only to eligible hotels, car rentals and activities booked through Scene+ Travel.
People who use the travel benefits will get the most value from the card. For occasional travellers, the $150 annual fee is harder to recover from rewards alone.
No foreign transaction fees, saving the typical 2.5% markup on foreign-currency purchases.
Six complimentary lounge visits each year through the Visa Airport Companion Program. Guests count against the six visits, and the primary cardholder must be present.
10GB of complimentary GigSky global data for 15 consecutive days each year.
Up to 10¢ per litre in value at Shell with a linked Shell Go+ account, although earning the maximum depends on fuel grade and promotional benefits.
Scene+ points can be applied to eligible travel booked with any provider within 12 months of the purchase.
The card costs $150 per year, which is difficult to offset if you rarely travel.
The 3x grocery rate is limited to participating Scene+ grocers, including Sobeys, Safeway, IGA and Foodland.
The 4x travel rate requires booking eligible hotels, car rentals and activities through Scene+ Travel; most other travel earns 1x.
No airline-specific benefits, such as free checked bags or priority boarding.
The card can be worth its $150 annual fee if you travel internationally and use airport lounges. Avoiding the typical 2.5% foreign transaction fee saves about $25 for every $1,000 spent in foreign currencies, so $6,000 of foreign spending would offset the fee before rewards.
Lounge access can add more value, but only if you use it: each guest counts as one of the six annual visits. The recurring 10,000-point bonus is worth about $100 at a one-cent redemption value but requires $40,000 in annual spending, so it should not drive the decision.
The current first-year 25,000-point introductory offer is worth about $250 when redeemed at one cent per point. It improves the immediate value but does not change the card’s long-term fit

Point value breakdown
Scene+ points vary in value depending on how you redeem them, but to get the most from your rewards, we think you should aim to see a value of one cent per Scene+ point.
You can reach that when redeeming for travel, groceries, Home Hardware purchases or Cineplex rewards. A Scotiabank account credit is a weaker deal: 3,000 points gets you $20, or about 0.67 cents per point.
