ALA GAP Insurance FAQ

Who is ALA GAP insurance?

ALA launched in 1990 as a provider of financial services and products to the vehicle industry. It offers a host of specialist GAP insurance policies which are designed to cater for different vehicles and different circumstances. ALA can also supply car warranty as well as some additional cover like keycare and tyre insurance.

Drivers are eligible for ALA GAP insurance cover if they got their car from a dealership, and they may qualify for certain cover if they bought their vehicle privately.

ALA is an FCA-authorised broker of GAP insurance. London General Insurance Company and Bastion Insurance are the ALA GAP insurance underwriters.

How does ALA GAP insurance work?

If you decide that ALA GAP insurance is right for you, you can select the policy that accommodates your needs as long as you meet the necessary criteria. With this policy, you will then be covered against financial loss you may have suffered as a result of your car being written off by your insurer.

To make a claim you will need to provide ALA with the necessary documentation and, as long as your car insurance claim is successfully approved and settled, your GAP insurance claim should follow suit.

What does ALA GAP insurance cover?

ALA offers a range of policies that can cover many different types of vehicle. Should your car insurer declare your car a total loss after it was in an accident, stolen, or damaged by fire, GAP insurance will protect you from any financial loss you may suffer as a result of your car depreciating. The way that ALA will make up this shortfall will depend on the individual GAP insurance policy you take out.

There may be some restrictions on the type of ALA GAP insurance you can get. For example, there may be a time limit on when you can get cover after buying your car, and there may also be mileage and age limits your car needs to meet. You will have GAP insurance cover for a specified amount of time, as detailed in your policy documents.

Does ALA GAP insurance offer discount codes?

You may find that ALA GAP insurance will have a discount code if you come to buy a policy. This will, however, depend on ALA and whether they are running the offer at that time.

Where can I find ALA GAP insurance reviews?

To see whether existing drivers think ALA GAP insurance is any good and if they had any problems, you can read their reviews on independent review sites such as Trustpilot.
