Conrad Hotels and Resorts is a brand of high-end luxury hotels operated by Hilton. It isn't as prominent as, say, DoubleTree by Hilton, but with over 50 properties across two dozen countries, you might just find the opportunity to stay at Conrad Hotels & Resorts on your next vacation.

Here’s what you can expect from Conrad hotels and how to book an affordable stay.

About Conrad

The Conrad is one of Hilton’s three luxury brands, along with Waldorf Astoria and LXR hotels. The brand was established in 1982 and named it Hilton’s founder, Conrad Hilton. It is now known for its bold design, carefully selected amenities and purposeful service.

Concierge services

Conrad properties come with personal concierge services to tailor your experience to your preference. Whether you’re seeking dining reservations, local attractions, spa appointments or ground transportation, a concierge is readily available at the click of a button in the Hilton Honors app.

It’s also possible to request on-property services, such as room service or extra towels. You can also adjust your preferred housekeeping time.

Pillow menu

For guests who prefer their bedding to be just right, Conrad offers a pillow menu, which includes pillow options ranging from your basic firm and soft to memory foam, feather and even hypoallergenic.

Luxury experiences

Conrad hotels offer cultural experiences and immersive adventures to guests, such as clam picking and oyster tasting at the Conrad Algarve in Portugal, becoming a ninja at the Conrad Osaka in Japan or a desert safari at the Conrad Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

How to book a stay at a Conrad hotel with points

Known for its luxury and five-star service, Conrad brand hotels are popular among lavish travelers. One way to afford one of these properties without breaking the bank is to use hotel points for your stay.

Because Conrad falls under the Hilton umbrella of hotels, you need to be a Hilton Honors member to be able to book an award stay at a Conrad with Hilton points.

To find one of these properties, start your search on Hilton.com and enter the hotel name or the general travel destination. If award nights are available, the search results will reveal how many Hilton points you need for the redemption.

If you’re a Hilton Honors elite (Hilton Honors™ Silver Status, Hilton Honors™ Gold Status or Hilton Honors™ Diamond Status levels), you can book five consecutive award nights and redeem just four nights’ worth of Hilton points thanks to Hilton’s 5th Night Free perk.

Additionally, if you hold any cards that earn American Express Membership Rewards points, you can transfer them to Hilton Honors at a ratio of 1:2.

However, it’s worth noting that NerdWallet analysis found Hilton points to be worth 0.5 cent each, significantly less than some other travel credit cards.

If you seek more flexibility in redeeming points for hotel stays, consider applying for a more general travel credit card instead. A more general travel credit card differs from a hotel card in that you can book lodging at multiple hotel chains, rather than reaping the benefits of staying loyal to a single brand.

The more high-end the travel credit card, the more benefits you can enjoy, including airport lounge access or automatic elite status in certain programs. That said, a brand-specific hotel card can net you benefits like late check-out or free breakfast, which can have meaningful dollar value.

How to book a discounted Conrad stay without points

The Platinum Card® from American Express cardmembers can book a discounted stay without having to transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Hilton.

If you have The Platinum Card® from American Express you’ll get various statement credits, such as a $200 annual hotel credit.

The Platinum Card® from American Express cardmembers can use this credit toward bookings at properties that are part of the Fine Hotels & Resorts and The Hotel Collection, and Conrad hotels usually belong to either of those collections.

For example, Conrad London St. James, Conrad New York Downtown and Conrad Dubai are part of The Hotel Collection. You’ll find Conrad Punta de Mita, Conrad Bora Bora Nui and Conrad Koh Samui on the Fine Resorts & Hotels list.

🤓Nerdy Tip

Although you can book just one night at any Fine Hotels & Resorts property to trigger the credit, a two-night minimum is required for The Hotel Collection.

To make a reservation at a Conrad property using the $200 hotel credit via the The Platinum Card® from American Express, you must search and book through the AmEx Travel portal.

Once you pick the hotel you want to book, fill out your traveler’s information and complete the payment using The Platinum Card® from American Express. You must prepay for the reservation for the statement credit to apply.

On top of the discounted (or even free, depending on your room total) stay, you’ll qualify for the following perks with both hotel programs.

Fine Hotels & Resorts

  • Daily breakfast for two guests.

  • $100 experience credit.

  • Guaranteed 4 p.m. checkout.

  • Noon check-in (based on availability).

  • Room upgrade (based on availability).

  • Free Wi-Fi.

The Hotel Collection

  • $100 experience credit.

  • Room upgrade (based on availability).

Conrad Hotels & Resorts recapped

It’s hard to say no to luxury, and luckily, you don’t have to. A stay at Conrad, one of Hilton’s three luxury brands, can be more within reach if you lean on travel rewards and premium card benefits.

Redeem Hilton Honors points to book award nights or use the $200 hotel credit you get with The Platinum Card® from American Express to lower the room rate. Although there aren’t many Conrad hotels, each location has a wow factor worth experiencing at least once. Terms apply.
