Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This may influence which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

Business charge cards give companies the power to spend without credit limits. But, unlike business credit cards, that big balance needs to be paid in full each month — and the fee for missing a payment can be substantial. Still, if you have a large operating budget or consistent cash flow, opting for a business charge card could net you impressive rewards and bonuses.
The best business charge cards have rewards that greatly outweigh the annual fee and offer perks you can’t get with a traditional business credit card. A charge card that offers some level of flexible financing is a bonus, too. Here are our picks for best business charge cards.
Note: Some of our selections can be applied for through NerdWallet, and some cannot. Below, you’ll find application links for the credit cards from our partners that are available through NerdWallet, followed by the full list of our picks.

NerdWallet's editorial picks: Best business charge cards

Best for: Welcome offer
The
Ink Business Premier® Credit Card
has an eye-popping welcome bonus:
Earn $1,000 bonus cash back after you spend $10,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
You’ll also get a cash-back bonus on big-ticket purchases:
Earn unlimited 2.5% total cash back on purchases of $5,000 or more and unlimited 2% cash back on all other business purchases. Earn unlimited 5% total cash back on travel purchased through Chase Travel℠.
Plus, there’s an option to finance qualified purchases of $500 or more, up to a set limit. Learn more and apply.
Best for: Unlimited 2% cash back
The Capital One Spark Cash Plus is a straightforward business charge card — there’s no option to finance select purchases — that gives you unlimited
2
% cash back on all purchases, with no bonus categories to track or spending caps to worry about. Big spenders can offset the $
150
annual fee (and then some) with the stellar bonus offer for new cardholders:
Earn a one-time cash bonus of $1,200 once you spend $30,000 in the first 3 months.
Keep in mind that the annual fee could also be a deductible business expense. (See rates and fees.) Learn more and apply.
Our pick for: Corporate card for startups (no personal guarantee)
The Ramp Card does not require a credit check or personal guarantee. You just need strong revenue and a healthy bank balance. The corporate charge card also offers unlimited cash-back rewards and card-level spending controls with no annual fee. Learn more and apply.
Our pick for: Charge card for startups (no personal guarantee)
Brex rewards loyalty, as businesses that use the card exclusively earn the best rewards, including bonuses on startup expenses like recurring software charges and select purchases from Apple. Brex determines creditworthiness by evaluating a company's cash balance, spending patterns and investors, so business owners don’t have to personally guarantee the debt on the card. And the card has two payment options: daily or monthly. If approved for a Brex card, you get instant access to a virtual card so you can start earning rewards immediately. Learn more and apply.
Our pick for: Spend management
The
BILL Divvy Corporate Card
offers solid rewards, particularly to businesses that opt for a weekly payment schedule, paying out up to 7x points on restaurants and 5x points on hotels. But where Bill Spend & Expense really shines is its spend management platform. Bill offers unlimited employee cards (virtual and physical) and empowers business owners with card-level controls, including the ability to set budgets and automatically categorize spending. Bill's rewards structure is more complicated than most charge cards, though. And while you start accruing points on day one, you can't redeem them during your first year. Learn more and apply.

Business charge cards vs. business credit cards

Business charge cards are a type of credit card, but they typically have no preset spending limit and have to be paid in full each month — though some charge cards let you pay for certain purchases over time. Business credit cards, on the other hand, have a set credit limit and allow cardholders to carry a balance from month to month (with interest charges).
Who should consider a business charge card? Businesses with high recurring costs and regular, reliable cash flow are good candidates for a business charge card. These companies can take advantage of unlimited spending potential without sweating the monthly payment that follows. Charge cards like Brex and Ramp can also be a good fit for incorporated companies that want a corporate charge card, provided you have the cash reserves or professional funding to qualify.
Who should consider a business credit card? Companies that need a little flexibility — to finance purchases or cover the gap between revenue and operating expenses — should opt for a business credit card over a charge card. Businesses with lower annual spending (less than $50,000 per year) can also net comparable rewards with a business credit card, minus the annual fee or rigid payment requirements typical of a charge card. The American Express Blue Business Cash, for example, earns 2% back on the first $50,000 spent each year and has no annual fee.

Business charge cards: Pros and cons

A business charge card can have distinct advantages for entrepreneurs — namely, no cap on spending. But there are trade-offs, including the potential for steep late payment penalties.

Pros

  • No preset spending limit: Businesses looking for a high-limit business credit card won’t be constrained by a credit limit with a business charge card. Note: Corporate charge cards, including Ramp and Brex, do cap your spending limit. And charge cards that allow you to pay over time on select purchases, like the Ink Business Premier and AmEx Business Gold, set a credit limit for financed purchases.
  • Higher rewards for higher spending: More purchasing power equals more opportunities to earn rewards. Many of the best business charge cards allow you to rack up unlimited rewards, where other cash back business credit cards cap what you can earn. And the Ink Business Premier and Spark Cash Plus both give you extra incentive to charge more, with bonuses and cash back boosts for big spending. Want a regular business credit card that doesn’t cap your cash back? Check out the Ink Business Unlimited or the Bank of America Business Advantage Unlimited Cash.

Cons

  • Limited wiggle room: Business charge cards offer a lot of spending leeway but minimal breathing room if your business has cash flow issues. A late payment can impact your business credit score, and serious delinquencies may also affect your personal credit. Ramp and Brex both automatically debit payments from linked bank accounts, and Brex may zero out your credit limit if a scheduled payment fails. (Note: Ramp and Brex are corporate cards. Missed payments on these cards impact your business credit, not your personal credit.)
  • High late fees: A missed payment on your business charge card can also lead to a hefty late fee — up to 2.99% of your outstanding balance, depending on your card. Miss a payment with a balance of $5,000? That could be a $149.50 late fee. On a $10,000 balance? $299. Most business credit cards charge a flat late fee, which is rarely more than $40.
  • Annual fee: Many of the best business charge cards come with high annual fees. The AmEx Business Gold has a $295 annual fee, for example, and the Ink Business Premier is $195 per year. Comparable business travel credit cards, like the Ink Business Preferred and Spark Mile for Business, have annual fees of just $95. And most cash back business credit cards have no annual fee.
