Plus, it's a charge card, so you can't revolve a balance — but you're also not tied to a preset credit limit as a result.

You can create policies based on the typical things – like vendor and dollar amount – as well as data within your org, like location, title, department, level, office location, tenure, and more. If you can think it, you can build it. This way, you don’t have to worry about an employee buying alcohol at a conference or the marketing team spending more than $X per month on AdWords.
Global-Ready: Corporate Cards work seamlessly across 200+ countries and territories, and expenses are reimbursed quickly in 37+ currencies.
Automatically Issue, Revoke, and Re-Assign Cards: With Rippling, when you hire an employee in your HRIS, you can automatically issue corporate cards with pre-set limits and policies based on their department, level, location, and more. And when an employee leaves, Rippling automatically disables their card and asks if you’d like to re-assign it to their manager or another employee.

💳 Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card
NerdWallet star rating: 4.4
The Bank of America® Business Advantage Unlimited Cash Rewards Mastercard® Secured credit card is a great option for business owners with bad personal credit. That's typically a FICO score below 630. 💳 Ink Business Premier® Credit Card
NerdWallet star rating: 4.7

The Ink Premier also boasts one of the best sign-up offers on the market. The catch? This is largely a pay-in-full card, and it charges a hefty fee ($195) — especially for a cash-back option.
💳 Wells Fargo Signify Business Cash℠ Card

How we chose the best cash-back business credit cards
NerdWallet's editorial team evaluates business credit cards on more than a dozen factors. For cash-back options, we pay close attention to:
Base cash-back rates.
Bonus category cash back.
Reward caps.
Annual fees.
Cash equivalents.
Business cards need to earn at least 4.5 stars to make our list. We also consider cards below that number if they have standout features. For instance, the U.S. Bank Triple Cash Rewards Visa® Business Card (4.4 stars) is a rare cash-back business card with no cap on bonus categories.
⭐ What our star ratings mean
Business cards that earn 5 stars are considered exceptional. These cards are best-in-class and deliver the most value for the greatest number of business owners.
Business cards that earn 4.0 to 4.9 stars are good to excellent. They deliver excellent value and might be the best choice for certain businesses, depending on your needs and spending habits.
Business cards that earn 3.0 to 3.9 stars are fine business cards. You'll get some value out of using them, to be sure, but there are other cards that offer better rewards.
Business cards that earn below 3 stars are considered subpar and would generally not be recommended by NerdWallet.
Which cash-back business credit cards we consider
NerdWallet's editorial team focuses on cards widely available to business owners. Our writers and editors do research regional and niche options as well. But we may not list these because of their limited availability. For instance, the TD Business Solutions Credit Card is an excellent cash-back option — if you live in TD Bank's service area. (That's 15 states in the Eastern U.S., plus Washington, D.C.)
We categorize a card as "cash back" if you get the best value redeeming its rewards for money. For example, you can use points from The Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express as a statement credit. You'll get just 0.6 cents per point, though. That makes it a better business travel credit card. We also rate cards with no rewards as cash-back cards.

What is a cash-back business credit card?
A cash-back business credit card earns you money with every purchase you make. How much depends on the card. A common flat rate is 1.5% per dollar spent. So if you charged $1,000, you'd earn $15 cash back.
Some cards have different rates based on what you buy. For instance, you may get 3% cash back at gas stations and restaurants, but 1% everywhere else. Those are bonus category cards.
What kind of cash-back business card should you get?
A flat-rate card can benefit any business owner — especially if it has no annual fee. If you only want one business credit card, go with a flat-rate option.
But combining cash-back cards can maximize your rewards. Check your books for consistent spending in common bonus categories. Use a dedicated card for those purchases and a flat-rate option for everything else.
What are common bonus categories for businesses?
Business card issuers tailor bonus categories to meet common company expenses. You can get cash-back business cards with elevated reward rates for:
Co-branded cash-back business cards also offer strong rates. For instance, if your business relies on Amazon services, the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card is a great choice. You'll earn 5% back on the first $120,000 spent on Amazon, including Amazon Business, Amazon Web Services, Amazon.com and Whole Foods purchases.
Do business cards have rotating cash-back categories?
You typically won't find rotating cash-back categories for business cards. This is different from personal credit cards. Many of those cards require you to remember to "activate" new categories each quarter.
Some business credit cards may let you choose which categories get higher rates, though. For instance, the Bank of America® Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards Mastercard® credit card does this. You can opt for 3% cash back among options like gas stations and EV charging stations, office supply stores and travel.
How to choose a cash-back business card
Determine your goals. Figuring out what you want in a card will make it easier to find the right fit. Are you looking to maximize rewards? That might take some work. But if you simply want to tap into extra capital or build business credit, any card can check those boxes.
Consider fees. Most cash-back business cards don't charge annual fees. That doesn't mean you'll avoid other costs. For instance, foreign transaction fees are common among these cards. Capital One is a notable exception. Look to their cards if you'll charge a lot overseas.
Look at your spending. This will help you decide between flat-rate and bonus cash back. Go for flat rate if your expenses are all over the map. Know you spend a lot on something like gas? Opt for a bonus category card with higher rewards on that instead.
Check for spending caps. Most flat-rate cards offer unlimited cash back, but not all. The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card caps its highest rate, for instance. Limits are much more common on bonus category cards.
Factor in other benefits. Do you have a big purchase coming up? A business card with a long 0% intro APR period could come in handy. Upfront spending could also net you a nice welcome bonus.
Do some math (or have AI do it). A card with an annual fee or cap might actually net you the most money. You'll need to do some modeling to calculate that. AI can be a great time-saver. Prompt your tool of choice with the relevant details (fees, cash-back rates, your spending, bonus amounts, etc.). Then, ask for break-even points and total rewards to compare different cards.
How can your business redeem cash-back rewards?
When you get your business credit card statement, you’ll also get the rewards you earned during that statement period. You typically have a few options for redeeming those cash-back rewards:
Getting a cash deposit in your bank account. This transfers whatever you’ve earned directly into a checking account.
Getting statement credit. This option applies your rewards to your statement balance, reducing the amount you owe.
Redeeming for other rewards through your credit card’s portal. You may have the option to use your cash-back rewards to pay for travel or other special rewards, like gift cards, through your credit card issuer’s website. Sometimes rewards go further when you redeem them this way, though the rules vary by credit card issuer.
Check your card agreement to understand your redemption options. While you often can choose how you want your cash back, that won't always be the case. The American Express Blue Business Cash™ Card, for instance, automatically credits cash back to your account.
Are cash-back rewards taxable?
In general, no, credit card rewards aren’t taxed. The IRS treats rewards like discounts — similar to a rebate when you buy a pair of glasses — rather than income. The rules may be different for your business, though. If you deduct purchases made on your card as business expenses, for example, the rewards you earn would reduce the amount of those expenses. That could mean a smaller deduction at tax time.

Our writers and editors chose the Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card as the best overall cash-back business card. It stands out for its unlimited cash back, excellent welcome bonus and redemption versatility.
We consider 1.5% cash back an excellent rate for an unlimited, flat-rate business card. Higher rates are available, but they may have strings attached. These could include annual fees, reward caps or bank account requirements.
Bonus category cash back usually ranges from 3% to 5%. You're unlikely to find unlimited rewards at the higher end of that range. Typically, you'll earn 1% cash back on non-bonus purchases or those made after reaching a spending cap (if there is one).
Yes, employee cards can earn cash back. Issuers will assign those rewards to the primary cardholder's account. Employee spending may not count toward other benefits, like welcome bonuses. This is the case with U.S. Bank, for instance. Check with your card issuer to confirm their policy.
Methodology
NerdWallet's business credit card team selects the best small-business credit cards without outside input from partners or other business interests. We evaluate business cards based on value and simplicity, weighing fees, sign-up bonuses and reward rates, alongside perks like interest-free periods, statement credits and elite status (for travel cards). Business cards that earn the highest scores deliver the most value to the greatest number of business owners.
Notable changes to our methodology for 2025 include factoring in whether spending on employee cards earns rewards and counts toward the welcome offer requirements. We also now consider what information the card issuer reports to consumer credit bureaus. Learn how NerdWallet rates small-business credit cards.
