The terms of the United℠ Explorer Card and the United Club℠ Infinite Cardhave changed, so this article is out of date. See our reviews of the United℠ Explorer Card and the United Club℠ Infinite Card for up-to-date details.

For a limited time, United is giving new and current cardholders extra opportunities to earn more miles. Beginning June 1, 2023, all four personal credit cards issued by Chase are offering elevated sign-up bonuses:

  • United Gateway℠ Card: Earn 30,000 United MileagePlus Miles after spending $1,000 on qualifying purchases in the first three months of opening an account.

  • United℠ Explorer Card: Earn 60,000 United MileagePlus Miles after spending $3,000 on qualifying purchases in the first three months of opening an account.

  • United Quest℠ Card: Earn 70,000 United MileagePlus Miles and 500 PQP after spending $4,000 on qualifying purchases in the first three months of opening an account.

  • United Club℠ Infinite Card: Earn 80,000 United MileagePlus Miles and 1,000 PQP after spending $5,000 on qualifying purchases in the first three months of opening an account.

As of June 2023, NerdWallet values United miles at 1.2 cents apiece, so these bonuses are worth between $360 and $960. In addition, these bonuses could potentially cover multiple flights depending on which card you pick and where you’re going.

A head-start toward United status

Suppose you’re chasing elite status with the airline. If so, the current sign-up bonuses on the United Quest℠ Card and United Club℠ Infinite Card are especially valuable since you will also earn premier qualifying points (PQP) after meeting the spending requirements. You’ll earn 500 PQPs with the United Quest℠ Card and 1,000 PQPs with the United Club℠ Infinite Card.

If you fly four flights during one calendar year, you can reach Premier Silver status by earning 5,000 PQPs (or 4,000 PQPs, plus 12 premier qualifying flights). Typically, the PQPs you earn are based on how much you spend on United Airlines flights. But if you earn one of these sign-up bonuses, it would cover a significant chunk of that requirement without ever having to step on a United plane.

🤓Nerdy Tip

You also earn 500 PQPs for every $12,000 you spend with the United℠ Explorer Card, United Quest℠ Card or United Club℠ Infinite Card (up to a limit, which varies by card). Terms apply.

Earn more miles when you support LGBTQ+ organizations

To celebrate Pride Month, eligible United cardholders will earn elevated rewards on up to $1,500 in donations to select LGBTQ+ nonprofit organizations, including the Trevor Project, Human Rights Campaign and StartOut. During June, you’ll earn 5 miles per $1 on the first $500 you donate. Then, on any additional donations you make (up to $1,500), you’ll earn 10 miles per dollar.
