Aeroplan Credit Card Boosts Annual Fee to $195, Adjusts Rewards and Perks

The Chase Air Canada Aeroplan® Credit Card — formerly known as simply the Aeroplan Credit Card — is leaving some longtime perks in the wind while welcoming aboard several new features, including updated reward rates and categories.

The card's annual fee has also increased to $195, more than double its previous $95 fee.

What’s changing (aside from the card's official name)

For now, existing cardholders will have access to both old and new incentives listed below. The new benefits will replace the old ones for these cardholders starting on Jan. 1, 2027, and the new annual fee will be due that same year on their cardholder anniversary date.

Ongoing rewards: 3 Aeroplan points per $1 spent on purchases made directly with Air Canada. 3 points per $1 spent on groceries. 3 points per $1 spent on dining (including takeout and eligible delivery services). 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases.
Airline credit: $100 Air Canada statement credit each year, issued semi-annually in increments of $50.	Airline credit: N/A.
Status perks: Automatic 25K Status, with no spending requirement to maintain it. Earn a one-level status boost to 35K Status when you spend $75,000 or more on your card in a calendar year.	Status perks: Automatic 25K Status for the rest of the first calendar year of cardholding and for the consecutive year. To maintain status, spend at least $15,000 each calendar year. Earn a one-level status boost to 35K Status when you spend $50,000 or more on your card in a calendar year.
Additional benefits: Receive a 15% discount on eligible Air Canada flight redemptions when you book with Aeroplan points. Starting Jan. 2027, cardholders get a fourth day free at 11,000+ car rental locations worldwide when they book for four days in one reservation with Aeroplan points. Receive 50% off the number of points of an eligible flight reward after spending $100,000 or more. Terms apply. Receive a global plus-one benefit and get the points back for your companion’s travel when flying to any destination after spending $1 million on the card.	Additional benefits: 500 bonus points for every $2,000 spent in a month, up to a maximum of 1,500 points per month. (After Dec. 31, 2026, the card will no longer offer this benefit.) 10% bonus when transferring 50,000 or more Chase Ultimate Rewards® points in a single transaction to Air Canada Aeroplan. (This benefit, too, goes away after Dec. 31, 2026.)

🤓Nerdy Tip

Automatic 25K Status grants benefits like priority check-in and priority boarding (Zone 2), and cardholders will also receive 5 eUpgrade Credits each year. These credits can be used on eligible flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Express and Air Canada Rouge to upgrade to Business Class, Premium Economy or Premium Rouge.

What’s staying the same

Some of the card's key features and incentives are staying intact, including:

Complimentary checked bags: Cardholders and up to eight travel companions on the same reservation get a free first checked bag (up to 50 lbs) on Air Canada flights.
TSA/Global Entry application credit: The card's $120 fee credit toward Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS every four years still applies.
A free fourth night at a hotel: Cardholders still get a fourth night free when they redeem Aeroplan points for three consecutive hotel nights in the same booking.
The Pay Yourself Back feature: Aeroplan points can still be redeemed for a statement credit for recent travel, dining, grocery store and gas station purchases.
No foreign transaction fees: There will still be no extra fee charged on international purchases with the card.
