Visa cardholders can get a free membership with Shipt, which offers same-day delivery from popular retailers like Target and Publix. But details vary depending on your card and city.

Visa no longer offers the Shipt benefit. It's not uncommon for credit card benefits to change over time. Log into your credit card account or contact your issuer to find out about the specific benefits your card currently offers.
Visa cardholders in the U.S. have access to a variety of perks, including a Shipt benefit that offers same-day delivery service for everyday purchases and essentials from popular retailers like Costco, Target, Publix and many more.
Details of the benefit vary depending on whether you have a Visa Infinite, Visa Signature or regular Visa card, but regardless, it can save you money on a Shipt membership and time spent at the store. Still, there are some rules and limitations when using the perk.
As of this writing, a Shipt membership costs $99 annually. For Visa cardholders, membership is priced at $9.99 per month, but they have through Dec. 31, 2024, to enroll their card and qualify for a free membership (and potentially discounts) for a limited time.
Visa Infinite: Get a free Shipt membership for up to three years from the enrollment date and no less than 12 months if enrolled by the expiration date above.
Visa Signature: Receive a free Shipt membership for three months and a 50% discount for nine months.
All other Visa U.S. consumer credit cards: Get a free Shipt membership for one month and a 50% discount for three months.
Terms apply.
🤓Nerdy Tip
If you previously signed up for a Shipt membership through Target, canceling the account and membership and creating a new one is a necessary step to qualify for the benefit.
2. Shipt membership and even delivery may be free, but other fees exist
A Shipt membership means free delivery on orders of $35 or more. But for orders below that amount, the delivery fee is $7. (There is no minimum spending amount required to request a delivery.)
Orders with alcohol purchases may also require a $7 delivery fee.
Beyond that, other charges may apply, including taxes, retailer fees (for, say, bagged items) and more.
And of course, you may wish to tip your Shipt driver.
For starters, the Visa benefit is limited to one person per Shipt account and per eligible Visa card, and payments or membership purchases through third parties like Apple Pay or Google Pay aren’t eligible for the offer. But beyond that, there are some things to keep in mind about Shipt itself.
Shipt may not be available in your area: Even though the Shipt perk is available to all Visa cardholders, it may not be in reach, geographically, for some. As of September 2021, Shipt was available in more than 5,000 cities nationwide. Shipt's website makes it easy to check by ZIP code to see if your location is eligible.
Shipt's list of partner retailers varies: Shipt delivers from a variety of popular retailers, which is a big part of its appeal. But the list of retailers available to you personally will vary based, again, on your ZIP code.
It's possible to use Shipt without a paid membership: As with food-delivery competitors like Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats, you don't necessarily need a membership to place orders through Shipt. You can merely create an account and pay a flat $10 delivery fee on top of your order.
But also like those competing services, frequent Shipt users will likely save money over time by opting for a paid membership.
Visa's Shipt benefit isn’t applied automatically. Instead, you'll have to complete a few steps to claim it:
To start, go to Shipt.com/visa and type in your ZIP code. Assuming Shipt is available in your area (see above), simply follow the instructions to create a Shipt account. If you already have an existing Shipt membership, you’ll have to wait until it expires to qualify for a free renewal with the terms that apply to your Visa credit card.
After creating an account, click on the profile tab to receive a form to add your Visa card. (Charges won’t apply until the service is used.) Upon adding the card, you’ll be informed of its specific benefit terms. If you agree, click on the “enroll'' button.
When asked, add your card’s complete payment details to store it as a future payment option and select the “save” button. The eligible Visa card must be used when making purchases to receive the benefit.
5. Membership renews automatically
Shipt memberships renew automatically into a discount membership, if one applies, or into the paid membership after the complimentary portion of the benefit ends. If you want to use Shipt only while the Visa benefit lasts, stay on top of dates to cancel the membership before it renews.
Memberships may be canceled at any time on Shipt's website.
