Detailed Review

When Mission Lane overhauled its credit card lineup in 2025, it added new cards and rebranded existing ones. The Mission Lane Silver Line Visa® Credit Card was among those getting a makeover.

The Silver Line is the successor to the old Mission Lane Cash Back Visa® Credit Card, a no-annual-fee option geared toward people with fair credit, which can be generally defined as credit scores in the mid-600s. The Mission Lane Silver Line Visa® Credit Card has the same $0 annual fee as its predecessor, as well as the same rewards: 1.5% cash back on all purchases. Mission Lane says that it, too, is available to consumers with fair credit, although the card is also marketed to those with good credit.

If you have fair credit, also referred to as "average" credit. the Mission Lane Silver Line Visa® Credit Card remains a solid choice in a field that's perpetually short of options. Our 4.5 star rating for the card reflects how it stacks up against other options for fair credit. For those with good credit, though, the card struggles to crack the top tier. Considered on the same terms as other cards for good credit, we give it a rating of 3.8 stars.

The Silver Line is one of four credit cards currently offered by Mission Lane. The Green Line card is for those with fair credit, and there's a secured card for those with bad credit.

Benefits and Perks

Simple, solid rewards

The headline feature of the Mission Lane Silver Line Visa® Credit Card is the unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases, which matches the ongoing rate on such industry stalwarts as the Capital One Quicksilver Cash Rewards Credit Card and the Bank of America® Unlimited Cash Rewards credit card. If your credit scores land in the "fair credit" category, that's about as good as you can get. And the flat-rate nature of the cash back means earning rewards couldn’t be easier. You don’t have to track, opt into or activate categories, nor are there spending caps to deal with. The redemption process is similarly seamless: All cash back earned is automatically applied as a statement credit every month.

Light on fees

The Mission Lane Silver Line Visa® Credit Card doesn’t charge annual or monthly fees, making it free to use (as long as you don’t accrue interest on balances carried from month to month).

Automatic credit line reviews

Mission Lane automatically reviews your account for a credit limit increase after seven months. If you're working to strengthen your credit, a larger credit line makes it easier to keep your credit utilization low.

Drawbacks and Considerations

Lack of good-credit goodies

As discussed, the Mission Lane Silver Line Visa® Credit Card is a solid choice for those with fair credit. If your scores are better than fair, though, the card lacks features that some might consider table stakes for a cash-back card for good credit. Most notably, a sign-up bonus and an introductory 0% APR period.

For example, with the aforementioned Bank of America® Unlimited Cash Rewards credit card, you can snag a $250 online cash rewards bonus after you make at least $1,000 in purchases in the first 90 days of account opening. And you get a 0% Intro APR for 15 billing cycles for purchases, and for any balance transfers made in the first 60 days. After the Intro APR offer ends, a Variable APR that’s currently 17.49%-27.49% will apply. The 1.5% base rewards rate on this card matches that on the Silver Line, but it's possible to earn more if you're a member of the BofA Rewards™ program.

No way to go beyond 1.5%

A 1.5% cash back rate certainly isn’t bad, but those with good credit can do better. A number of no-annual-fee cards for good-to-excellent credit offer 2% cash back on all purchases, and there are options that pay 3% or more in common spending categories. The Silver Line's sibling card, the Mission Lane Gold Line Visa® Credit Card, offers 3% cash back on gas, dining and travel and 1% elsewhere. Depending on how you spend, you might rack up more cash back with that card than this one.

How To Decide If It's Right For You

How rewarding do you want a credit card to be? If you don’t mind bare-bones, the Mission Lane Silver Line Visa® Credit Card is a fine choice. With it, you’ll earn rewards on every purchase, no effort required. But if you like at least a few bells and whistles, especially if you have good credit, the Mission Lane Silver Line Visa® Credit Card won’t make much noise.

Alternate Pick: Higher rewards, better perks

2% cash back on all purchases

For those with good credit, the $$0-annual-fee card beats the Mission Lane Silver Line Visa® Credit Card by almost every measure. It pays 2% cash back on every purchase, includes incentives for new cardholders and even offers cell phone coverage.

Methodology

NerdWallet reviews credit cards with an eye toward both the quantitative and qualitative features of a card. Quantitative features are those that boil down to dollars and cents, such as fees, interest rates, rewards (including earning rates and redemption values) and the cash value of benefits and perks. Qualitative factors are those that affect how easy or difficult it is for a typical cardholder to get good value from the card. They include such things as the ease of application, simplicity of the rewards structure, the likelihood of using certain features, and whether a card is well-suited to everyday use or is best reserved for specific purchases. Our star ratings serve as a general gauge of how each card compares with others in its class, but star ratings are intended to be just one consideration when a consumer is choosing a credit card.
