We believe everyone should be able to make financial decisions with
confidence. While we don't cover every company or financial product on
the market, we work hard to share a wide range of offers and objective
editorial perspectives.
So how do we make money? Our partners compensate us for advertisements that
appear on our site. This compensation helps us provide tools and services -
like free credit score access and monitoring. With the exception of
mortgage, home equity and other home-lending products or services, partner
compensation is one of several factors that may affect which products we
highlight and where they appear on our site. Other factors include your
credit profile, product availability and proprietary website methodologies.
However, these factors do not influence our editors' opinions or ratings, which are based on independent research and analysis. Our partners cannot
pay us to guarantee favorable reviews. Here is a list of our partners.

HBO Max is a subscription streaming service that delivers movies and TV series from HBO, Warner Bros. and more. And it's a little pricier as of Oct. 21.
Plans now range from $10.99 to $22.99 per month, though annual pricing is also available, which shaves some off the monthly cost.
How much does HBO Max cost?
HBO Max offers three plans, each with unique features, benefits and price points.
Basic with ads
The ad-supported version of HBO Max costs $10.99 a month or $109.99 a year. Users get full HD resolution with this plan and can stream on up to two devices at once.
Standard
You can select an ad-free version for $18.49 per month, or $184.99 a year. Like the ad-supported version, users can stream in HD on up to two devices. This plan adds access to some live sports and 30 downloads for offline viewing.
Premium
The Premium plan features commercial-free viewing for $22.99 a month, or $229.99 a year. At this price, users gain the ability to stream to four devices simultaneously. There's also support for 4K Ultra HD resolution and Dolby Atmos sound, along with 100 downloads for offline viewing.
You can also bundle HBO Max with Disney+ and Hulu to get more content for your cash if you’re in the market for all three.

What’s streaming on HBO Max
HBO Max is more than the cable “pay channel” it used to be. It features content from all sorts of sources under the Warner Bros. Discovery umbrella, including:
The DC Universe.
Cartoon Network.
Turner Classic Movies (TCM).
Adult Swim.
HGTV.
The Food Network.
Magnolia Network.
Warner Bros.
Discovery.
Does HBO Max allow password sharing?
Not really. HBO Max allows users to share accounts only with other members of their household. And with the two base plans allowing streaming on only two devices, someone tempted to share their password outside their household might quickly run out of capacity to access streaming themselves.
How to fit HBO Max into your budget
The 50/30/20 approach to your household budget can help you balance spending. With this budgeting method, 50% of spending goes toward needs, 30% goes toward discretionary spending and 20% goes toward savings and paying down debt balances.
Streaming platforms fall under the 30% spending on wants. Annual subscription packages may offer additional savings for entertainment enthusiasts who can’t live without multiple platforms. You might also earn a bit of cash back if you pay with a good credit card for streaming services.
