Fall is around the corner, and I’ve got a box of pumpkin spice muffin mix in my pantry waiting for the first cool breeze. But I’m missing a key ingredient: chocolate chips.

Turns out, Costco discontinued its Kirkland brand of chocolate chips roughly two years ago due to a jump in cocoa prices, according to an announcement by the wholesale club on Reddit.
But, there’s good news! It's bringing back the private label chocolate chips, albeit at a higher price.
My Costco app shows $16.99 for the Nestlé chips and $14.99 for the Costco version for the same 72-ounce bag. That’s almost double what they cost in 2021, according to a Redditor who posted a photo of the chocolate chips for $7.99.
Still, I plan on grabbing a bag during my next Costco run — right before celebrating with that hot dog and soda combo.
