Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

The Nerds are excited to welcome Laura Onopchenko, our first chief financial officer, to the team. She will lead financial operations and work closely with our CEO, Tim Chen, to set the strategic direction of the company.

Onopchenko comes to NerdWallet from another mission-driven company, DaVita Rx, and chose to come here due to NerdWallet's vision and potential to improve people’s lives.

"Being part of a growing, mission-driven company is extremely important to me. NerdWallet is both of those things," Onopchenko says. "Helping NerdWallet expand its business means reaching more consumers and empowering them to make solid financial decisions. I'm incredibly excited to play a role in advancing such a worthwhile undertaking and can't wait to dive in."

Onopchenko brings more than 20 years of experience in a variety of leadership positions. She’s led high-performing teams, built the multifunctional capabilities required to enable continued growth and partnered with leaders to develop and implement strategic, financial and operating plans.

Prior to joining NerdWallet, Onopchenko served as vice president of finance at DaVita Rx, the pharmacy division at DaVita, a Fortune 500 company. During her five-year tenure, the business quadrupled to more than $1 billion in annual revenue and fulfilled millions of prescriptions.

Earlier in her career, she spent 12 years as an early-stage tech VC, leveraging her investment banking and corporate experience to help several portfolio companies achieve successful exits.

“Laura is the strategic leader NerdWallet needs to guide us through our next phase of growth,” says CEO Tim Chen. “She thrives in fast-paced environments, and has helped companies achieve amazing financial results. Laura is known by those who’ve worked with her as a ‘hands-on, people-oriented’ leader. I’m thrilled to have her as my thought partner and know she’ll play a crucial role in helping us better serve the 10 million consumers that visit us every month.”

We’re lucky to have Laura onboard and excited for the new perspective and expertise she brings to the table as NerdWallet continues to evolve.
