For a limited time, American Express is bulking up its benefits for some cardholders.

As of Oct. 9, 2020, a new partnership with new at-home fitness platform Variis by Equinox gives AmEx cardmembers the opportunity to enroll and redeem statement credits toward a monthly membership, which normally costs $39.99:

  • Eligible existing Platinum cardholders will receive $25 back each month (offer ends June 30, 2021).

  • Eligible existing holders of the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express will receive $10 back each month (offer ends June 30, 2021).

  • All other eligible existing cardholders will receive $10 back each month for the first three months of Variis membership (available through April 1, 2021).

  • Terms apply.

More about the Variis by Equinox benefit

Variis by Equinox is a just-launched fitness program with two components: an app that features workouts like yoga, strength training, running and more, plus a biking program that pairs with a SoulCycle spin bike. Variis by Equinox offers a library of in-home fitness content, and early Variis members will also get four "day passes" to an Equinox gym location.

AmEx says eligible cardholders will be notified in the weeks ahead if they’re eligible to receive these statement credits for Variis by Equinox. You'll have to enroll in the offer and subscribe to a Variis by Equinox membership.

This isn’t the first at-home perk American Express has added amid the COVID-19 outbreak. In June 2020, all cardholders were offered a complimentary year of Calm Premium Membership, which offers meditation and relaxation programs in an app.
