AmEx Unveils Bevy of Travel Perks for Platinum and Other Cards (Limited Time)

After surveying consumers for feedback on their travel-related needs during the COVID-19 pandemic, American Express is launching a suite of new temporary offerings, many of them centered around The Platinum Card® from American Express.
For a limited time, that premium travel card will offer the following:
$150 statement credit for stays at AmEx Travel Fine Hotels + Resorts: Cardholders can earn a one-time $150 statement credit when they spend $800 or more on one or several prepaid AmEx Travel Fine Hotels + Resorts bookings made by Dec. 7, 2020, via American Express Travel. You must enroll in the "AmEx Offer" online to qualify. Enrollment is limited. Terms apply.
Complimentary nights or property credits at over 200 properties: For qualifying AmEx Travel Fine Hotels + Resorts stays booked through American Express Travel by Dec. 18, 2020 (for stays through Dec. 20, 2020), you can earn a complimentary night or a statement credit at select properties. Typically this offer applies to stays that include several nights. You may repeat offers. Terms apply. This promotion is also available to holders of The Business Platinum Card® from American Express and the Centurion card.
Low fares on domestic routes: Until December 31, 2020, cardholders can get access to lower fares on eligible domestic flights when booked via American Express Travel. (The lower fares are available for travel through March 31, 2021.) Terms apply. This offer is also available to holders of The Business Platinum Card® from American Express and the Centurion card.
In addition to these Platinum-specific benefits, AmEx has also rolled out limited-time perks for other U.S. cardholders:
$75 statement credit for qualifying stays at Marriott Bonvoy properties: Eligible consumer and business cardholders can earn this statement credit when they enroll their card in the featured AmEx Offer online and then use their card to spend $250 or more on stays at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties through Dec. 31, 2020. Reservations must be made through Marriott. Terms apply.
40% more Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors points: Eligible consumer cardholders can get 40% more Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors points when transferring Membership Rewards points through Oct. 31, 2020. Terms apply.
American Express is also waiving travel booking and change fees through the end of the year. In addition, the issuer plans to soon allow cardholders to use Membership Rewards points for prepaid car bookings through American Express Travel. Qualifying cardholders will also see rental services listed under their Amex Offers.
These offerings are in line with some other temporary changes AmEx made this year to accommodate consumers’ shift in spending during the COVID-19 pandemic.
