Managing Editor April showers bring May flowers and Chase Freedom’s rotating bonus categories.
From April 1 through June 30, 2025, Chase Freedom Flex® and Chase Freedom® cardholders can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined category spending on Amazon and eligible streaming purchases. All other non-bonus category spending earns 1% cash back.
You must activate the bonus categories by June 14, 2025, to earn the elevated rate, and note that you can earn those bonus rewards retroactively.
Chase is also offering a "surprise" bonus category each quarter in 2025, as part of its 15-year celebration of offering rotating categories. So in addition to this quarter's rotating 5% categories, eligible cardholders who activate can also earn 5% cash back on eligible internet, cable and phone services from June 1 through June 30, 2025.

More about this quarter’s bonus categories
Amazon is returning as a second-quarter bonus category for the fourth year in a row. When you activate, you’ll get bonus cash back for all spending done at the mega-retailer, which includes Amazon Prime subscriptions, Amazon Fresh orders, Amazon.com gift cards, digital downloads, plus purchases made at physical Whole Foods Market stores and at wholefoodsmarket.com.
"Streaming services” was last offered as Chase bonus category in the second quarter of 2022. This quarter (Q2 2025), you can earn bonus rewards on streaming services like HBO Max, Paramount+, Peacock, Showtime, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN+, Netflix, Apple Music, SiriusXM, Pandora, Spotify, YouTube TV and more. Note that non-subscription purchases, like video downloads and gift cards, won’t count toward this category.
For its 15-year anniversary celebration, Chase is also offering bonus rewards on internet, cable and phone services during the last month of the second quarter of 2025. Note, however, that equipment purchases are not included in this category. “Internet, cable and phone service” was last featured as a bonus category in the first quarter of 2021.
Chase Freedom Flex®
In addition to quarterly rotating 5% bonus categories, the $0-annual-fee Chase Freedom Flex® offers the following benefits:
APR: 0% intro APR on Purchases and Balance Transfers for 15 months, and then the ongoing APR of 18.24%-27.74% Variable APR.
Rewards:
- 5% back on travel booked through Chase.
- 3% back on dining, including takeout and delivery services.
- 3% back on drugstore purchases.
- 5% back on qualifying Lyft services purchased through the Lyft app (through March 31, 2025).
- 1% back on all other purchases.
