Fact Checked

Drury Hotels isn’t the largest chain out there, but it has a decent presence within the U.S., offering more than 150 properties in 26 states.

Let’s check out everything there is to know about Drury Hotels, including its loyalty program, Drury Rewards.

Drury Hotels brands

Drury Hotels aren’t quite at the same scale as, say, Hilton or Marriott, which each have thousands of properties. However, Drury Hotels do have three separate brands under which they operate:

  • Drury Inn and Suites.

  • Drury Plaza Hotel.

  • Pear Tree Inn by Drury.

Drury Inn and Suites and the Pear Tree Inn by Drury tend to focus on mid-to-budget-tier experiences, with a lot of emphasis placed on affordable stays. Drury Plaza hotels offer a more upscale product with deluxe rooms and suites available to lodgers.

About Drury Rewards

No matter how often you travel, signing up for a hotel chain's loyalty program can be a smart money move.

Drury Rewards is the loyalty program of Drury Hotels. It’s free and earns you valuable rewards (usually in the form of perks and points) that can be redeemed for free stays and more.

Earning Drury Rewards points

Hotel stays

The simplest way to earn Drury Rewards points is by completing hotel stays.

For every $1 spent on your room during qualifying stays, members receive 10 points. Group bookings — say for a for a wedding, sports team or company meeting — earn 5 points per dollar spent for the entire group.

Meanwhile, Drury Rewards Business offers 5 points per dollar spent when rooms are booked for other guests, like colleagues.

Credit card spending

Drury Hotels has its own co-branded credit card, called the Drury Rewards Visa®. It offers a welcome bonus of 15,000 points after spending $500 in the first three months of card ownership.

Aside from hotel stays, this credit card is the easiest way to earn points. As a cardholder you’ll receive:

  • 5 points per dollar spent at Drury Hotels.

  • 2 points per dollar spent on gas, restaurants and utilities.

  • 1 point per dollar spent everywhere else.

Redeeming Drury Rewards points

Drury Rewards points can be redeemed in a variety of ways, including hotel stays, transfers to airlines, gift cards and charitable donations.

Redeem points for hotel stays

Redeeming your points for a hotel stay is going to be the best value for your points. Although the value of your points is going to depend on where you’re staying, the range will vary.

For example, let’s look at a stay at the Drury Inn & Suites Valdosta in Georgia. You can either choose to pay $179.99 for the flexible rate or redeem 19,999 points. This gives you a value of 0.90 cents per point.

Another example would be a stay at the Drury Inn and Suites Springfield, Missouri. For a stay there, you could pay $133.24 a night, or redeem 16,943 points. That’s a value of .79 cents per point.

So you’ll want to make sure you are redeeming points for the best value.

Transfer points to other programs

Drury Rewards has partnered with both American Airlines and United Airlines, allowing you to transfer your points as needed. 25,000 Drury Rewards points can turn into 5,000 airline miles.

NerdWallet values American Airlines miles at 1.6 cents each, which means those 25,000 points will yield about $85 in value.

Meanwhile, United MileagePlus miles are worth 1.2 cents each, which means those 25,000 Drury Rewards points will yield about $60 in value.

Other ways to redeem your points

If you’re not interested in hotel stays or free flights there are two other ways you can redeem your rewards.

  • Gift cards. You’ll need to redeem 20,000 points for a $50 gift card.

  • Charitable donation. You can also opt to donate your points to the American Red Cross. 15,000 points will net you a $50 donation.

Drury Rewards elite status

Drury Rewards is a simple program that’ll let you earn points on your hotel stays. There are no levels of elite status; instead, all members receive 10 points per dollar spent on their stays.

There are no associated benefits with frequent stays.

Drury Hotels, recapped

Drury Hotels isn’t the biggest chain around, but it can offer affordable midtier options for those looking for a nice place to stay. Beyond this, their rewards program can be valuable; all members earn 10 points per night for stays, and those who book for others have the option to earn points as well.

All information about the Drury Rewards Visa® has been collected independently by NerdWallet. The Drury Rewards Visa® is not available through NerdWallet.
