Fresh from a $100 million renovation, this luxury property is a favorite for travelers seeking service and chic style. It’s the only hotel on the island with a club lounge, which gives it added appeal. The resort also features an infinity pool, family pool, beach, spa and water sports activities.

The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas is a Category 8 Marriott Bonvoy property, requiring between 65,000 and 100,000 points for a redemption night. A bonus for American travelers is that no passport is required to fly there.

With traditional guest rooms as well as private villas with fully equipped kitchens, Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina, Autograph Collection has something for couples and families. Many guests arrive by complimentary boat shuttle from the neighboring island of Tortola (which has a small airport). Others fly into St. Thomas and take two boat rides to reach the resort (via Tortola). Scrub Island’s seclusion is part of its charm, and the dock in front of the resort welcomes boaters.

Guests enjoy access to all the resort’s pools, restaurants, beaches and activities, plus a private pool exclusively for Cove at Atlantis guests. Families will love Atlantis’ many water park features, plus the marine habitat and educational animal activities. The resort is located along two private beaches on Paradise Island near Nassau in the Bahamas.

This is a Category 8 property in Marriott Bonvoy, which means a redemption night goes for between 65,000 and 100,000 points.

When it comes to intimate resorts without the crowds, French Leave Resort is it. This Autograph Collection property on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas comprises fewer than two dozen Bahamian villas, meaning the guest count is small so there’s ample beachfront and access to amenities like a pool, whirlpool and water sports for everyone to enjoy.

As a Category 8 hotel in Marriott Bonvoy, a redemption night costs between 65,000 and 100,000 points, which puts it in the brand’s most exclusive tier of hotels.

6. St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico

U.S. citizens don’t need a passport to visit Puerto Rico, making the St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort, Puerto Rico even more appealing. Arguably one of the island’s best resorts, this luxury property is located in Rio Grande, on what was once a coconut plantation. For travelers who want a taste of the island’s natural side, both El Yunque National Forest and Espíritu Santo River State Preserve are near the resort. On property, guests can treat themselves to the Iridium Spa, private cabanas on the beach, a sparkling swimming pool and an 18-hole golf course.

The resort is a Category 8 Marriott Bonvoy property, which means that a redemption night costs between 65,000 and 100,000 points.

7. La Concha Renaissance San Juan Resort, Puerto Rico

On a private beach, this resort offers plentiful swimming pools, places to sink your toes in the sand and recreational activities like golf, zip lining and volcano climbing. With seven restaurants, there's no shortage of options to stay energized on property. Many guests enjoy a sailing visit to nearby Nevis Island, too.

9. Courtyard by Marriott Aruba Resort, Aruba

Though the Courtyard brand typically caters to the business traveler, the Courtyard by Marriott Aruba Resort surprises with its resort amenities and location near Palm Beach. Ringed with palm trees, the pool has sunken lounge chairs and a swim-up bar.

As a Category 5 property, a redemption night goes for between 27,500 and 40,000 points. Of the six Marriott Bonvoy options in Aruba, this is the lowest category redemption but still comes with resort amenities, making it a great deal for Bonvoy members short on points to redeem.

Best of the rest

Fun in the sun isn’t the only reason to stay at one of Marriott’s Caribbean resorts. History and culture are important, too, and many Marriott family hotels put travelers in the midst of it all.

Sheraton Old San Juan may not be the most exotic resort in the Caribbean, but it deserves kudos for being in the heart of historic Old San Juan in Puerto Rico. History buffs and travelers looking for an infusion of Puerto Rican culture will do well in this location, where a redemption night goes for between 27,500 and 40,000 points at this Category 5 property.

Marriott Bonvoy members traveling for business will find noteworthy options in the Caribbean, like the Aloft San Juan in Puerto Rico, a Category 4 property (between 17,500 and 30,000 points per night). The Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino in the Dominican Republic has a lovely pool and plentiful meeting space. This Renaissance is a Category 3 property, meaning a night costs between 12,000 and 20,000 points.

Many other of Marriott’s well-known brands have locations in the Caribbean, including two AC Hotels (Puerto Rico and Jamaica), one Design Hotel (Grenada) and several of Marriott’s new all-inclusive properties, operated in partnership with Elegant Hotels (Barbados).
