American Express Credit Cards Mobile App Review

Credit Cards

American Express Mobile App

The American Express mobile app has a simple interface that shows your card’s current balance, the available credit and recent transactions. You can make payments, view your account statements and check and redeem rewards. One feature that sets the app apart from competitors is its personalized offers. Tap the Offers icon to see a list of retailers where you can score discounts or earn extra cash back when you add the offer to your American Express card and then use it in the store or online (details vary by offer).

There’s also a Check Spending Power tool that allows you to enter the amount of a purchase you want to make, and receive an immediate response about whether the amount will be approved. This is especially useful for holders of American Express charge cards that have no preset spending limit. For cards with a credit limit, amounts that temporarily exceed it (before being paid off) might be approved in some cases.

If you have authorized users on your account, you will see their purchases in the app, making it easy to track all spending on the account. The app gives you the option of signing in with a fingerprint instead of a password, as well as setting up push notifications for purchases, offers and fraud alerts. Holders of American Express’ Platinum and Centurion cards will see additional features in the app, including the ability to search for airport lounges to which they have access.
