You can speak and listen through the doorbell, and you can connect it to a smart lock so you can lock and unlock your door remotely. The battery is rechargeable, but you can also hardwire it to your doorbell system. You can also control the device verbally from an Alexa-enabled device.
A monthly Ring Protect subscription gives you access to added features, such as package alerts, preset messages for visitors and up to 180 days of saved footage.

Unlike Ring’s 2nd-generation doorbell, this device doesn’t have a battery pack, so you’ll need to connect it to existing doorbell electrical wiring. Like other Ring doorbells, though, you can access additional features such as smart alerts and video storage with a monthly Ring Protect subscription plan.

Like other top video doorbells, Blink offers night vision, video recording in 1080p HD and a wide view field (135 degrees). It doesn’t have person- or package-detection capabilities, but it sends motion alerts to your phone. Also, live view and two-way audio are only available with a Sync Module or by connecting the doorbell to existing wiring.

The battery-powered S220 model we’re reviewing here, as well as the S330, stores up to 16GB of video on the included Eufy HomeBase device. Eufy’s wired video doorbell models store footage directly on the device.
According to Eufy, 16GB gives you 60 days of 15 minutes of video storage per day. Eufy offers cloud storage starting at $2.99 per month per camera for its battery-powered 1080p video doorbell and slim doorbell, but not the S220.
The S220 records in 2K HD, has built-in smart human detection and sends real-time alerts. It’s Google Voice and Alexa compatible, and it offers two-way audio so you can respond to visitors live. The device can also be connected to existing wiring for continuous power.

Nest doorbells offer night vision, two-way audio, 1280p HD video and a 145-degree view field. The devices send intelligent alerts for people, packages, animals and vehicles, and you can also detect familiar faces with a Nest Aware subscription.

We ran highly rated video doorbells through a comprehensive rubric, measuring each product on pricing, video features, storage capabilities and customer reviews. Some video doorbells are only available for purchase as part of a custom home security system, such as one from home security provider Vivint, so they were not part of this review process.
