What to expect flying economy with Singapore Airlines
- Seats: Seats on most international flights are comfortable and include an ergonomic design and six-way headrest. The seats recline, and a high-definition touchscreen is filled with movies and shows to keep you entertained. You can plug your device into the in-seat USB port so you land with full power. On the 737-800, used for shorter flights, you will see a more standard economy seat.
- Food and drinks: Consider starting with a signature Singapore Sling cocktail, one of many complimentary beverage selections on long-haul flights. Premium economy passengers can preorder their meal, while regular economy passengers can choose between several high-end menu items. A kids’ menu is available. Singapore also offers meals for religious, vegetarian and special diets.
- Baggage allowance: For flights to or from the U.S. and Canada, your economy ticket includes two checked bags, up to 50 pounds each (23 kilograms). Those with elite status may qualify for additional luggage at no charge. If you're traveling elsewhere, you're allowed 66 pounds (30 kilograms) on Flexi and Standard fares or 55 pounds (25 kilograms) on Value and Lite tickets.
- Boarding: When booked in economy, you may be the last to board. However, plan on a lengthy boarding process anyway, particularly for the massive A380 with a 471-passenger capacity.
- Service: Customer service from Singapore Airlines is very good. Singapore Airlines economy class gets high marks for service (as well as food, seat comfort and more) from international airline rating agency Skytrax.
- Inflight Wi-Fi: Singapore Airlines offers complimentary Wi-Fi for all passengers on most flights, although you'll need to be a KrisFlyer member to access it when traveling in economy.
