Credit Card Review: Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Card for College Students

Author:
TIM

The benefit of this card is the 5% cash back during the first 6 months on the basic necessities of student: supermarkets, gas stations, utilities, drugstores and convenience stores (read: food, electricity, energy drinks).  The 2% cash back in popular rotating categories give this card an upper hand when compared to other college cards, as long as you remember to enroll every rotation and plan your spending accordingly!

After the initial 6 months, you will only receive 1% cash back on those categories.  They also offer 2% cash back in popular categories like restaurants, apparel, and hotel, that rotate every once in awhile.  However, you have to remember to enroll every time a rotation occurs to receive the bonus!

We also suggest you check out Citi Forward® Card for College Students, which earns 5 points per $1 spent on restaurants, bookstores, record stores, movie theaters and video rental stores.
