NerdWallet Review: The State Farm Student Visa Credit Card

No annual fee: The State Farm Student Visa Credit Card has no annual fee. It's great for those looking for a card to supplement another rewards card, or just looking for an easy-to-maintain card that can stay open for a long time. Keeping no-fee accounts open boosts your credit score. Check out more no-fee cards here.

Credit Card Showdown: State Farm Student Visa Credit Card vs. Citi Forward® Card for College Students

Lower cash advance APR: It has a smaller interest rate for cash advances, which is the rate at which you're charged when you withdraw cash from a teller or ATM from your line of credit. Remember that interest on cash advances starts accruing the day you take one out, meaning you won't get the same grace period that normal purchases come with. While it's nice that the State Farm Student Visa Credit Card has a lower cash advance rate, it's still a better idea to avoid taking them out.

No introductory APR: There's no zero-APR promotion with this card. If you're looking for a card that lets you pay off a purchase interest free, look elsewhere. If this is a major concern for you, check out our comparison of low-interest credit cards. Many of those cards offer promo periods of a year or more.

Lower ongoing APR: The State Farm Student Visa Credit Card has a lower ongoing interest rate. If you're often carrying a balance, a low interest rate is one of the key things to look for.

Smaller signup bonus: The card's signup bonus is smaller than the Citi Forward® Card for College Students's, which of course means you're sacrificing some money right off the bat. Obviously this isn't the only consideration you should take into account, but hey, we thought you should know.
