Breeze Airways flies to more than 80 cities in the United States and the Caribbean, mostly to secondary airports. Service began in 2021 and the airline uses a combination of Airbus A220-300 and Embraer 190 planes.
The airline calls itself the premium leisure low-cost carrier. It won an award for having the most comfortable seat in North America in the 2024 Airlines Passenger Experience Association (APEX) Awards, but you might have to pay more to get the seat you want.
Here’s how Breeze Airways seat selection works.
Breeze Airways seating chart and seat types
Breeze Airways has three kinds of seats: standard, extra legroom and Breeze Ascent on some flights. The availability of seats and the kind of seats depends on the type of plane.
Seats on the A220-300
On the A220-300 all seats have USB power ports and laptop charging ports, and some seats have 120V power outlets.
The standard seat, which Breeze labels in bundles and during booking as A220 Nice, is 18 inches wide and has 30 inches of pitch and underseat dimensions of 17 inches wide by 13 inches high by 8 inches deep. There are 80 of them on the plane with two left of the aisle and three on the right.
The A220 Nicer seats have extra legroom with 33 inches of pitch and are the same 18 inches wide. The underseat dimensions of these 45 seats are the same as the standard seat. They are in the same two-three configuration.
The 12 Breeze Ascent seats, aka A220 Nicest seats, are a bit wider at 20½ inches with 39 inches of pitch. The underseat spaces are a bit smaller at 15 inches wide by 7 inches high by 17 inches deep (window) or 8½ inches wide by 7 inches high by 17 inches deep (aisle). There is no middle seat; there are two seats on each side of the aisle.
Seats on the E190
There are no Breeze Ascent seats on the E190 planes and all seats are in a two-two configuration, so there are no middle seats.
All of the seats are a bit smaller on this plane at 17.6 inches wide with underseat dimensions of 17 inches wide by 13 inches high by 8 inches deep. The 60 Nice (standard) seats have 29 inches of pitch, while the 48 Nicer (extra legroom) seats have 33-39 inches of pitch.
You can select a seat on Breeze Airways during booking or after purchase and either separately or part of a bundle that includes amenities like WiFi, bags and more.
Before booking any reservation on Breeze, you need a Breezy Rewards account. You will not be able to complete the reservation or make any changes to a reservation without it. If you don’t have one, you will have to create one before completing the booking process.
Let’s look at a sample reservation for flights between Tampa, Florida, and Raleigh-Durham< North Carolina, for a long weekend in August. The flights offer four fares: No Flex, Nice, Nicer and Nicest.
No Flex Fare
The No Flex Fare for one combination of flights came to $218.
Selecting the No Flex Fare for nonstop flights each direction brought up a screen with seat selection options. Breeze Ascent seats were available on the outbound flight for an additional $79-$100 each way, extra legroom seats ranged from $23-$43 and standard seats were $12-$32.
Prices were slightly different for the return leg with Breeze Ascent seats available for an additional $82-$104 each way, extra legroom seats ranged from $23-$43 and standard seats were $12-$32. The prices per seat are dynamic, not set.
🤓Nerdy Tip
Breeze Airways has a family seating option where passengers who buy a Nice Bundle or No Flex Fare and are traveling with children ages 2-12 can choose free seats in the family seating section in the back of the plane.
When selecting the Nice Bundle, which includes the ability to change or cancel the ticket, additional loyalty points and one carry-on, the fare went up to $298, but the seat prices stayed the same.
Nicer and Nicest Bundles
Seats become part of the package when buying the Nicer or Nicest bundles.
The fare jumped to $348 for the extra legroom seat in the Nicer bundle, but it also includes a checked bag as well as a carry-on. If you select this fare, you can choose any extra legroom or standard seat for free or upgrade to a roomier seat for $53-$70 on the outbound flight and for $55-$74 on the return leg.
When booking your flight, do a little math. You might find that adding a bundle will save you some money if you plan to check a bag, unless you really do not care where you sit.
Adding a first bag is $40 with the Nice Bundle, so if you add two standard seats at $22 and a checked bag for $40 one way, you’re paying $84. Selecting the Nicer bundle for an additional $65 is a better deal and you get an extra legroom seat, earlier boarding and free WiFi.
Choosing the Nicest bundle raised the fare to $489 but includes the Breeze Ascent seat at the front of the plane, the ability to change or cancel the ticket, extra BreezePoints, two checked bags, a carry-on and WiFi. Buying this bundle allows you to select any seat on the plane at no additional charge.
If you don’t select a seat when you book, Breeze will assign you one when you check in.
If you decide after you book your ticket that you want to pay to select a seat, you can do that from your Breezy Rewards account. Log into the website or app and go to the MyTrips section.
If you pay to choose a seat and decide as the flight gets closer that you would rather not pay for a seat anymore, you can get some or all of the cost of the seat back as a flight credit, as long as it is more than 24 hours before your flight.
You can only add seats and bags a la carte after booking. You cannot add a bundle unless you want to change the reservation and rebook at the current price.
Breeze Airways seat selection recapped
Like many other airlines, you'll pay to select a seat on Breeze Airways. If you don’t care when you sit, you will get a seat assignment when you check in. It may be in the middle, but at least it will be a comfortable seat.
The cost of the seat is dynamic and is charged each way. Buying a bundle could save some money on your ticket.
