If you have elite status with another hotel rewards program but have been thinking of trying Hilton Honors on for size, now's a good time to do so.
Hilton Honors will match your current elite status level from another hotel rewards program for 90 days, giving you the chance to maintain status through March 31, 2021.
How to register
To register for the status challenge, you'll need to provide proof that you’ve earned elite status with another program, then you’ll get matched to either Hilton Gold or Diamond status. To maintain status into 2021, you'll need to complete four stays for Gold status and eight stays for Diamond status in 90 days. (More on that below.)
This level match is only available with other hotel rewards programs. That includes, but isn’t limited to:
World of Hyatt.
IHG Rewards Club.
Best Western Rewards.
Le Club Accor Hotels.
Acceptable proof of status includes a screenshot of your profile or current membership card. You must also include proof of a stay within the past 12 months. A screenshot of the reservation or receipt qualifies.
Note that different rewards programs have different tiers, and though many are named similarly, a Gold tier in one rewards program may not equate to Gold with Hilton Honors. For example, Marriott Bonvoy has six different tier levels, and Best Western has five, all named similarly.
After submitting proof of status, you’ll wait five to seven business days for confirmation and activation and then, if approved, you'll be a Hilton Honors Gold or Diamond member for 90 days, with full member benefits.

Status beyond 90 days
If you want to keep your newfound Hilton Honors status, you have to complete a challenge within your 90-day match period. Gold members must complete four stays, while Diamond members must complete eight stays. Complete the challenge and you'll maintain your new Hilton status through March 31, 2021. Matched Diamond members who complete at least four stays but don’t reach eight will retain Gold status at the conclusion of the 90-day period.
Attaining Gold or Diamond status without being matched into those levels requires a significantly higher number of stays. To achieve Gold status, new Hilton Honors members must normally accrue either 20 stays, 40 nights or 75,000 base points. To achieve Diamond you need 30 stays, 60 nights or 120,000 base points.
Hilton Honors Gold members get 80% bonus points on all base points earned, the fifth night free when booking hotel rooms with points, complimentary breakfast and some exclusive offers that vary based on which type of Hilton hotel you stay at.
Hilton Honors Diamond members receive 100% bonus points on all base points earned, all previous tier benefits, complimentary breakfast, Executive Lounge access and a 48-hour room guarantee.
The bottom line
Hilton’s status match program is a great way to try out a new rewards program without losing all of the benefits you’ve accrued in the past. If you've been considering switching hotel loyalties, this offer provides a rare fast track to almost two full years' worth of elite Hilton status.
