Wyndham is one of the largest international hotel chains in the world, with over 9,000 properties in 90 countries. There are 20 hotel brands in Wyndham’s portfolio, spanning from luxurious to budget. Wyndham’s loyalty program is called Wyndham Rewards, and points earned through the loyalty program can be redeemed for stays at hotels, vacation resorts and rentals. Members can also use points for gas, online merchandise and experiences when they don't have a trip lined up.
To take advantage of these flexible redemption options, you first need to bank some Wyndham Rewards points. Thankfully, Wyndham makes earning points very easy through its credit cards, hotel properties and various partners. In this article, we highlight 15 ways to earn Wyndham points, broken into four categories:
Earn points with credit cards
Sign up for Wyndham Rewards credit cards
Wyndham offers two co-branded credit cards that can help you earn points fairly quickly:
Wyndham Rewards® Visa® Card (annual fee of $75): Earn up to 30,000 bonus points - Enough for up to 4 Free Nights. Earn 15,000 bonus points after your first purchase. Plus, earn an additional 15,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 90 days of account opening.
Wyndham Rewards® Visa® With No Annual Fee (annual fee of $0): Earn 15,000 bonus points after your first purchase or balance transfer – enough to redeem for up to two free nights.
If you are a Wyndham loyalist, the Wyndham Rewards® Visa® Card will provide the highest earn on hotel stays and other bonus categories. However, if you already have several cards that you pay an annual fee on and are fine to earn some, but not all, of the perks, the Wyndham Rewards® Visa® With No Annual Fee could make more sense.
Earn Wyndham points on credit card bonus categories
Regardless of which Wyndham card you choose, you’ll be able to earn bonus points when using either card on specific categories. We’ve put together a handy chart detailing each card’s perks and bonus categories:
Wyndham Rewards® Visa® With No Annual Fee
Wyndham Rewards® Visa® Card
Earn 15,000 bonus points after your first purchase or balance transfer – enough to redeem for up to two free nights.
Earn up to 30,000 bonus points - Enough for up to 4 Free Nights. Earn 15,000 bonus points after your first purchase. Plus, earn an additional 15,000 bonus points after you spend $1,000 on purchases within the first 90 days of account opening.
Earning on Wyndham purchases
3 points per $1 spent
5 points per $1 spent
Earning on eligible gas, utility and grocery store purchases
2 points per $1 spent
2 points per $1 spent
Earning on other purchases
1 point per $1 spent
1 point per $1 spent
Anniversary bonus points
6,000 per year
Though the Wyndham Rewards® Visa® Card offers 2 more points per $1 spent on Wyndham purchases, both cards pay 2 points per $1 on gas, utility and grocery store purchases.
If you want to build your Wyndham points balance and prefer a card with no fee, you could get the Wyndham Rewards® Visa® With No Annual Fee. Then, each time you need to go to the grocery store, refill your tank at the gas station or pay your utility bill, just grab your Wyndham Rewards® Visa® With No Annual Fee and you’ll see your Wyndham points add up. Making small adjustments like using a card that offers bonus points on specific categories can make it much easier for you to get that hotel award night.
Although putting a lot of spending on cards to earn points can seem exciting, keep in mind that racking up credit card debt and then paying interest on it would negate any value earned from rewards. So budget your spending accordingly, whether you’re earning points or not.
Sign up for Capital One credit cards and transfer points to Wyndham
In February 2020, Capital One added Wyndham to its list of transfer partners. Points transfer from Capital One to Wyndham at a ratio of 2-to-1.5, which isn’t particularly strong. Capital One has airline transfer partners, like Air Canada and AirFrance, that have the same 2-1.5 ratio but whose points are much more valuable than Wyndham’s 0.9 cent value.
However, if Wyndham is the transfer partner that you prefer from Capital One’s list, then you’ll be happy to know that there are four credit cards that allow point transfers to Wyndham.
Capital One® Venture® Rewards Credit Card (annual fee of $95): Enjoy a one-time bonus of 50,000 miles once you spend $3,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening, equal to $500 in travel
Capital One® VentureOne® Rewards Credit Card (annual fee of $0): Earn a bonus of 20,000 miles once you spend $1,000 on purchases within 3 months from account opening, equal to $200 in travel
Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business (annual fee of $0 intro for the first year, then $95): Earn a one-time bonus of 50,000 miles – equal to $500 in travel – once you spend $4,500 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening.
Capital One® Spark® Miles Select for Business (annual fee of $0): Earn a one-time bonus of 20,000 miles - equal to $200 in travel - once you spend $3,000 on purchases within the first 3 months from account opening
Transferring from Capital One to Wyndham
To initiate a transfer, log in to your Capital One account and select “Transfer Your Rewards.”
On the next page, you will see a list of Capital One’s transfer partners. Select Wyndham from the list and click “Transfer Miles.”
You will then get a popup asking you for your Wyndham Rewards number so you can link your accounts and initiate a transfer.
Cardmember anniversary bonus
If you keep the Wyndham Rewards® Visa® Card open after the first year, you will earn 6,000 points on each cardmember anniversary. Given that free nights start at 7,500 points, a 6,000-point bonus is nearly enough for one free night. However, for a $75 annual fee, it would be nice to see Wyndham increase the anniversary bonus to 7,500 points.
Earn points while traveling
Stay at Wyndham hotels
The most obvious way to earn Wyndham points is by booking a stay at a Wyndham hotel. When you enroll in Wyndham Rewards, you earn 10 base points per $1 spent on qualifying stays or 1,000 points, whichever is greater.
A “qualifying stay” means a booking of one night or more at a participating property, with a minimum daily average rate of $25. You'll need to book through WyndhamRewards.com to earn points. Stays booked through third-party sites, such as Hotels.com or Expedia, won't earn points.
If you have elite status, you're eligible to earn even more points based on the percentages below.
Accelerated earnings bonus
Earn Wyndham points at Caesars casinos
Going to Las Vegas or Atlantic City for a special occasion? If you stay at a Caesars casino, you can earn 10 points per $1 thanks to Wyndham’s partnerships with more than 30 Caesars Entertainment casinos. To earn points, include your Wyndham number when making a reservation.
Book car rentals with Avis or Budget
If you need to rent a car while traveling, you can score extra Wyndham points when booking through Avis or Budget. Each rental company lets you earn 100 points per day on eligible rentals and has specific promotions, discounts and booking codes — be sure to check their websites for updated information.
Book tours and activities
You can earn 10 points per $1 spent when you book an activity, tour or experience through Wyndham Experiences. This benefit could be particularly useful for those who like to book organized tours or activities when traveling. Spending $750 in Wyndham Experiences would net you enough for a free night at a lowest-tier hotel (7,500 points).
Refill your tank at Marathon gas stations
Marathon gas stations have a loyalty membership program called MakeItCount Rewards, which offers special perks to Wyndham loyalists. While a specific earn rate is not published on the partner webpage, various outlets report earning 2 points per gallon on gas and other purchases at select Marathon locations. In addition, the first time you refill your tank at a Marathon, you will get 40 cents off each gallon on the first 20 gallons. Each time thereafter, you can save 5 cents off each purchased gallon.
Attend a timeshare presentation at Club Wyndham
If you can sit through a timeshare presentation, you can earn a nice chunk of Wyndham points.
Club Wyndham is Wyndham’s timeshare ownership program, which offers points bonuses for attending presentations and as incentives when booking various vacation packages.
Check out the latest Club Wyndham vacation packages and point-earning offers. You can also sign up for Wyndham’s email list if you want to get timeshare presentation offers.
As an example, when booking this package in Orlando, Florida, you have a choice between two incentive bonuses: 30,000 Wyndham Rewards points or two adult tickets to SeaWorld. The fine print suggests that you’ll need to sit through a two-hour Club Wyndham timeshare presentation. Although listening to a two-hour sales pitch on vacation isn’t the most fun activity, just think about what you could do with those 30,000 Wyndham points!
Earn points while shopping
Shop online through the Wyndham Rewards shopping portal
Shopping online is another way to scoop up Wyndham points. Through Wyndham’s shopping portal, you can earn bonus points for making online purchases at participating merchants. To start earning points, head over to Wyndham Rewards Shopping and log in with the same username and password that you use to access your Wyndham Rewards loyalty account.
Wyndham has ongoing point-earning offers as well as special limited-time bonuses with specific merchants. Make sure to bookmark the shopping portal and search for the merchant you’d like before you buy anything online.
Order food online through DoorDash
DoorDash is an online food ordering platform that offers restaurant delivery in the U.S. Each time you order food delivery through DoorDash, you can earn 250 Wyndham points. Online orders to Wyndham properties incur no delivery fee when promo code WRD is used.
New DoorDash customers could earn a 2,000-point sign-up bonus after placing an initial order. If you order food online 22 times and earn the 2,000-point bonus, you will earn 7,500 Wyndham points, which is enough for a free night at a lowest-tier property. Although 22 online food orders seems like a lot, if you’re the type who orders lunch delivery to work or dinner delivery at home, that award night might be closer than you think.
If you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, you can benefit from the DashPass subscription while also earning 3 Chase Ultimate RewardsⓇ points per $1 spent on all food deliveries.
Miscellaneous earning options
Take online surveys with Opinion Rewards
Even if surveys aren’t your thing, you can earn 500 Wyndham points when you take your first survey with Opinion Rewards. This is a quick and easy way to earn 500 points.
Host a meeting at a Wyndham hotel
If you organize meetings for your company, whether it's a large organization or a small business, you can earn lots of Wyndham points given how quickly event costs can add up. Just make sure you attach your Wyndham account to the bookings.
Event planners will earn 1 Wyndham point per $1 for hosting meetings at Wyndham properties. Examples of qualifying meetings include weddings, sporting events and corporate conferences. Though this way of earning points won't work for everyone, it's nice to know that the option exists.
Purchase Wyndham points
If you need additional points to book an award night, you could purchase them outright. Wyndham sometimes runs promotions on these purchases — during a recent promo that offered a 40% bonus, you could have purchased up to 45,000 points and earned 18,000 bonus points in the process. While we don't generally recommend purchasing points, if you have a specific redemption in mind and can catch a sale, it can sometimes make sense.

The bottom line
Wyndham offers many opportunities to earn points with its loyalty program. If you’re looking to avoid an annual fee, the best way to rack up points would be to sign up for a Wyndham Rewards® Visa® With No Annual Fee and use the card for everyday expenses. Since free hotel nights start at only 7,500 Wyndham points, the points earned from each of these methods could add up quickly.
